52 pages of love for this MOD. But is it coming? Really? Dunno.

I think silenced weapons use "slowerr" ammo, i mean cartitges that has lees powder so this bullet goes slower than sound speed 343.2 m/s, usuall bullets go faster so then there is a sonic boom that makes a lot of noise, the whip was probably the first human invention to break the sound barrier (found at wikipedia).

This quote is my answer: "Propellant gas heats and erodes the baffles, causing wear, which is worsened by high rates of fire."

That would be the 4th hypothesis for the high variance of velocity in the freebore boost effect. In a review, the suppressor which was used by the dude, proved to be incredibly hot after 10 shots... you can't hold your weapon with bare hands. After 20 you get a "heat mirage", so you can't even aim with it. Variance makes the shot even more inaccurate.

The exiting bullet's velocity is higher as the suppressor overheats, BUT the variance of the bullet's velocity IN the suppressor is higher too, meaning the bullet is once faster, the slower again, then faster again (or do i understand it wrong?)... nobody explained why. It certainly contributes to the bullet's exiting velocity though.

My theory: Because in the suppressor, the gas can slip past around the bullet, propellant gas collides with baffles sooner. the different shapes baffles are changing the gas's vector, so the gas will collide with the bullet not only from behind. This could explain the variance, and also the decrease in accuracy. The bullet flies as it wants to.

@Harbeck: good point... the bullet is already made to be slow as it is. Yes, with the same subsonic ammunition unsuppressed shots would be slower, BUT there's no point in doing this. -- This stuff and Full Metal Jacket bullets would make CQB totally realistic... I'm not sure we want that though :D

hmmm... the dude didn't tell us how much did the suppressor decrease db. sound suppressing/velocity would be an interesting ration.

btw it's pretty interesting, but we should drop this until someone with a PhD in physics tells us what's really happening ;-) I don't think the terrorist's and police commando units of CQB can afford such extra-high quality silencers anyway :P

EDIT: Does someone know about any suppressors other than Gemtech, with which this occurred?

Here's an idea: bouncing bullets

If you shoot at the wall in a certain angle or higher, the bullet will bounce off the wall.

I would honestly doubt bouncing bullets would be a good idea, unless they were very well integrated, which would require extensive coding, and even then probably would be seen more as an annoyance than anything.

well when cops are fighting terrorists or something a couple of times happened that a bounced off bullet hit a civilian. Yup, if TK like this, it's pretty annoying xD

Well, it was just an idea...

sounds fancy and all, but is it really needed?
I would more rather take one very nice map with unique textures.

But what is the likelihood that the bullet will ricochet. Oh and just to point out, bullets don't bounce, they ricochet.

Me and my english :P

It's similar to what you've learned about light's total internal reflection in the school. If the light enters another medium, it refracts. If the angle of the incoming light is greater than the critical angle, it reflects. When bullets ricochet, it's something similar.

I'm saying again... was just an idea

No one is disputing this, simply there's many factors to take in account, namely the surface, as slight bumps may change everything, and in the end the chances of a bullet ricocheting, and the chances it ricochets and hits someone with enough force to kill them, will be pretty slim. Meaning, the only times when it may happen, people will figure out it was a random bug or something.

btw did anyone think about how we are going to share this game with whole world, so that everybody knows about it? trailers, ads etc.

PenguSpy is a site for all linux games. It will for sure catch the linux gamers' eyes over here.
http://www.penguspy.com/#/All/free_and_ ... =1/limit=0

Maybe sending it to some gaming related news-sites? I'm asking because ads cost some money, and this is a free game soooo...

 people still look forward to this? Here's a few questions:

How many developers are helping coroner?

If none, why not?

If some, what have they done to help?

Is coroner even allowing others to help him?

2 or 3 half full servers are left in tce, how much longer will this drag?

If another year, good luck on finding players to play this. There will be no point to even release anything if there is no one to play it. Dont take this into offense life is a pain in the ass, as you say, but it seems to me your taking this project on solo. A few other guys showed up, but no word from them anymore. You have a lot of talented players that can make maps, weapons, skins, and even code. Why not ask them for help? If you are doing this solo I can only say good luck on finding a community. By the way things are going now, you wont have any active servers in about a month or two. Even the tactical realism crew left and they seemed very dedicated for the past years.

Pff i have feeling tce stands still for long time. Even quake3 tc has one server up.

Ofcourse im new and visiting this site daily while all you are old farts 8)

Also you have to notice that coroner was playing cod and now when BO is out. He and possibly other members are playing it, also bf bc 2 vietnam and killzone 3 beta. Theres many cool games up at this time of the year.

Also i suggested putting tc:cqb to moddb and desura but some were like "no point"

We have advertised it in tce moddb comment tab. There is some dudes who are not playing tce but are watching the situation i think. I have spreaded word a little.

I readed old thread about saving tce. Back then everyone was thinking a lot how to save it, now many has lost interest.

Still major fact what is still pushing tc:cqb is that its intented as LAN game.
