This quote is my answer: "Propellant gas heats and erodes the baffles, causing wear, which is worsened by high rates of fire."
That would be the 4th hypothesis for the high variance of velocity in the freebore boost effect. In a review, the suppressor which was used by the dude, proved to be incredibly hot after 10 shots... you can't hold your weapon with bare hands. After 20 you get a "heat mirage", so you can't even aim with it. Variance makes the shot even more inaccurate.
The exiting bullet's velocity is higher as the suppressor overheats, BUT the variance of the bullet's velocity IN the suppressor is higher too, meaning the bullet is once faster, the slower again, then faster again (or do i understand it wrong?)...
nobody explained why. It certainly contributes to the bullet's exiting velocity though.
My theory: Because in the suppressor, the gas can slip past around the bullet, propellant gas collides with baffles sooner. the different shapes baffles are changing the gas's vector, so the gas will collide with the bullet not only from behind. This could explain the variance, and also the decrease in accuracy. The bullet flies as it wants to.
@Harbeck: good point... the bullet is already made to be slow as it is. Yes, with the same subsonic ammunition unsuppressed shots would be slower, BUT there's no point in doing this. -- This stuff and Full Metal Jacket bullets would make CQB totally realistic... I'm not sure we want that though
hmmm... the dude didn't tell us how much did the suppressor decrease db. sound suppressing/velocity would be an interesting ration.
btw it's pretty interesting, but we should drop this until someone with a PhD in physics tells us what's really happening

I don't think the terrorist's and police commando units of CQB can afford such extra-high quality silencers anyway
EDIT: Does someone know about any suppressors other than Gemtech, with which this occurred?
