No, this is not a spam post. FilePlanet/Ubisoft is offering free games with a little catch: There are ads on the loading screens. Yes, for seeing ads when you're loading, you can get a game for free. They also look to pop up in the menus ocasionally and when you exit, but it's free geames, people!
Far Cry is here
Prince of Persia is here

Personally, I think this is a good idea, releasing older games with ads in them for free, as it makes everyone love you, and brings ad revenue. Hell, even with in-game billboards like BF2142 has it's a kick-ass tradeoff. You will need an ubi.com account set to the US, though, but meh, they're free and legal, what'sd not to like!

Lawl, I thought this was a spam post from the title :P

The ads on the loading screen sound ok. I dunno about the popups though. That could be rather annoying, even if the game IS for free and it IS only in the menu :(

What is with the title. Yeah I saw, its clogging up Fileplanet again, they really should plan this out before putting up so many free games from classic titles all at once. Like, OMG are you trying to crash the internet.

Ghost Recon was removed before I got a chance to nab it, probably because it was on high demand and we all know what high demand does (FEAR Combat - crashed multiple times). Well they are smart to remove Ghost for the mean time otherwise I cant get Farcry and Prince or persia... okay enough about me 8)

I dont really mind seeing ads on the loading screen as long as it isnt an ad that is in my face all the time or an ad that I prolly wouldnt wanna see (Viagra anyone?)

As for CnC, I was always a RedAlert fan, not much that for Nod and GDI xP But hey, tons and tons... good marketing here... suck on this EA

No catch except that multiplayer still needs a cd key. Single player is fully functional you only have to watch the same mcDonalds ad each tile to save, load, or start the game.

There's a bug in far cry, where mods will disable the ads, I'm using a mod right now, but it's harder than the original so I'm stuck at the first level. I think some goons are also working on changing the ads to be humorous things.

hehe... the AI in Farcry is way beyond stupid if you start thinking unorthodox. I managed to lure them out one by one and shoot them from relative cover. Plus if you try to shoot them from over 500 meters unscoped, they dont take cover.

What good mods are there for Farcry?

Yeah, I heard about this the day it happened, and I've already got Far Cry downloaded (funny thing is, I've already got a hard copy of it that I bought, lol.... but I figured I'd just grab the free version while I could anyway).

Hehe yeah very good for free games however some comanies just wont get into the whole thing, especially for games no longer sold such as Total Annihilation and many older games that have gone vapourware.

Feeling all happy and special beings that....... GHOST RECON IS BLOODY HARD!....

So I went and downloaded Rayman..... played the first few challenges like they were nothing... next 4 I still haven't gotten.

So then I went and downloaded Prince of Persia, played it on the PS2, yeah it was good, but....... PS2....... Got it downloaded, stuck in my username and password.... and apparently I don't live in the US. Probably thinks I live in Kazakhstan or... Rukstan... Turkistan.... Afghanistan. So many stans >.>

So I avoided it, got past the 1st mission on GR finally, 3rd was a fluke and I somehow got out with one guy, and barely did anything.

I then went to play some Sniper Elite.... I was doing perfect, all long range headshots, covert kills, nobody had spotted me, no shots came my way....
It was at this point I took the saying my mother said very seriously, "Never play out in the middle of the street." Next thing I know, I get ran over by a truck, a bloody truck from out of nowhere.

So I then went back to PoP which still thinks I live in Russia.

Played some GR, just some quick missions, nothing much.

PoP still thinks I live in Tuvalu...

So in the end, yeah free games are great....... but they are one hell of a pain in the arse....

Still proudly living in..... anywhere but the US.

For the record...... I live in the US if you didn't get the gag...

lol. I havent tried Ghost Recon but Ive found it in Gamershell. Prince of Persia seems good, a lot less complicated than Tomb Raider. Farcry is still a little too silly with the AI running towards my bullets.

Lol, I actually agree.... Prince of Persia is quite a bit easier...
Except the install, I still don't live in the US for some reason, lots of people getting this. So I'm just going to remove it, maybe try again some other time.

But I still love Tomb Raider.... certain reasons >.>

And yes, Ghost Recon is nothing like GRAW or any other FPS for that matter... yeah I understand it's not supposed to be like GRAW, but it is pretty difficult.

I thought all the Ghost Recon games kind of had funny default controls, it's just not like most other FPS.

by far easier than the original. I've never passed the first level. :( I always died. I never got past the first level in sands of time either, but that was ecause I was at a friends and we were going to do some battlefield or something soon, so we stopped.
