i was surfing to the internet and i found this ET mod:

its looks like crap, designs look basicly like quake,
but there is something i find intresting about this game, and that is how the modders changed the weopon positions of the models:

It might be a good game if the playerbase didn't ruin it.

The problem is that every single person who plays that game has been playing Team Fortress since Quake 1.

Gameplay totally and completely revolves around bunnyhopping along at Mach 2, as well as all sorts of other types of trickjumping. Unless you too have been playing TF for the past 11 years, you can't even begin to get close to actually competing.

Since these guys have been playing Team Fortress since 1996, the concept of new players is also completely unknown to them. If you ask for help, and if they bother to reply, you get the standard "loL nUB rTfM11!11" (sometimes with more 1's at the end). That is, assuming you can find a non password locked server with another player on it.

Oh, and gentlemen's rules. I forgot the gentlemen's rules. Basically, you aren't allowed to fight in the middle of the map, chase the enemy into your base, and all sorts of other bizarre rules that aren't really explained beyond "haha dum n00b0rz11111!". If you don't follow them, you get kicked, if not banned. Lovely, eh?

The other part is that the classic TF gameplay is valued so highly that any sort of gameplay change at all is unthinkable. They would actually prefer for the playerbase to dwindle down to zero as they all die of fatal carpal tunnel syndrome and/or eyeball cancer instead of actually making a change to make the game at least playable for new guys.

Weapon position, weapon position...

I'd really rather prefer to whine and complain for now, thanks.

The server that is usaly populated is called Kindergarten, not really that bad but still bad.

This part of the Quake community actually is more like HL1 players than Quake. Because in general, the Quake community is very helpful to new players and modding. Besides TF is HL1 mod then later Q3 Fortress, ETF, then now its TF2 Source.

actually, TF was originally on Quake, and they made team fortress classic for half-life, in anticipation of TF2

If it could be useful for development, shouldn't it be in a discussion and suggestion area? General is spossed to be news and topics about the game. This game isn't TC:E, thus not TC:E news or TC:e related. If you want TC:E to use some of the ideas then it should be in a suggestion area. However, this is more suited for off topic.

We have no interest in making TCE anything like TeamFortress. If you want something like that (realistic tactical and quake/tf arcadish) wait for my game to be in production and be finished in around 3/4 year or more.

no i dont want something like ETF, i allready said that the game design suck right? oh wait, u never read do you!?

i was just showing u that mod to prove that changing the weopon position was possible,
