Hey guys,

Just wanted to formally introduce myself to the community. My name is MimiC and I run the website Map-Depot.com. The site is dedicated to hosting gaming files and 3rd party maps. Some of the benefits of the site are un-capped download rates, even for guests, no registration required to download, no wait lines, and many more. The only catch is that if you want to download more than 3 files a day you'll need to register (which is free anyways.

When maps for the new version version are released I'll try to put as many as I can on the site as soon as I can. So check out the site, and register to show your support.

awesome.

personally, I think the best maps are third-party maps, especially many player-made ones.

agreed!

I used to make maps for Urban Terror. Its a Q3 mod similar, but not quite like TC:E.

Still host lots of 3rd party maps for Urban Terror, but they're going to become un-playable with the upcoming release of version 4. Shame really, gonna lose a lot of great maps.

They are probably either upgrading graphics or rooting out exploitable maps.

That might be part of it. But the main reason is that the new version 4 is a complete rebuild of the game. The lighting system has been changed, models, textures, and the main change is that its become stand-alone now. You no longer require Quake III to play Urban Terror 4.

Basically if you did load up an old map, it may actually load, but there would be loads of textures missing, the model sizes would be all wrong, and the lighting would be almost black.
