well, call me cazy, but the world of shotguns isn't all 12-guage. so, for a secondary weap for recon, how 'bout a smaller guage shotgun. I'm rushed so that's my post for now.

well, if they are going to have two guns, I dont think the seconadary weapon being that powerful is an option.

I don't really see shotguns having a place as a secondary weapon.

A sawed-off might work, but I bet there would be balance issues.

balance issues? well more than that. In the first few days expect yourself to be blown off your combat boots day and night if sawed off shotguns were secondary weapons. As far as I am concern, shotguns are used for door breaching and immobilization of threats not really used to kill someone.

Not many Special Ops units I know of use sawn-off shotguns as a secondary. :P

In fact, I don't think the 'skinnies' are stupid enough to use those.

The fact is, shotguns are used for opening locks, and why bother if there arent any?

Well, the M1 Shotgun is actually made to put all 6 buckshots, or 72 BB's or less, into anyone posing a minor threat.

Shotguns are good for knocking an armored personell off their feet enough to move in for a kill or a capture more than picking people off from the top ledge of some warehouse off the port of Columbia. :P

Which reminds me, it would be good if the damage from the shotgun ingame was reduced for non-headshot and non-point blank shots. Instead they should knock you back and whatever you hit, that will give you damage or if hit at jsut the right distance with the right amount o force knock you out cold (with knock out cold animations instead of death animations)

Or just replace Buckshots with Slugs. That'll do the damage. :P

I don't like the idea of slugs.

If they were implemented realistically, they would be too much like a railgun, which no one wants.

which ofcourse due thier low range of fire will be easy picking for me and the other snipers. (plus, since they want to shoot you, they will obviously run in a straight line making life easier for me)

yeah. slugs will breed new forms of n00bs. maybe if team doors are implemented (probably, never, or only VIA 3rd party maps) doorbusters could be used to open these doors.

then again, that's just me and my mad idea machine :P

Okay heres waht i see outta this, ther should be no additonal shotguns,a nd possibly he decrease in damage of shot guns. you could also consider then fact of attachments onto m16 and m4's as well as ak's and sig's, that would be a shotgun for door breaching purposes (yes these do exist!). The ultimate objectvie fro shotguns and possibly using c4's for breaching would probably be some sort of breach and eliminate game mode.

If you use C4 to breach something there wont be anything left after breaching. C4 was made to specifically destroy things not breach them. The average door breaching explosive is a C2 class not C4. For walls a BMD(Bunker defeat munitions) ("Predator" in Battlefield 2 as I remember seeing) rocket launcher always suffices.
