If I had any knowledge whatsoever of id Tech 3 codebase, or even better, knew how to screw around with code in the first place, I would have at least attempted something. As it stands, I am not the hero TC deserves, nor the one that it needs. The solution? Strap Coroner to a chair next to his computer to get him to make an update... Or go insane...

On a more serious note - I doubt it will ever happen even as a 3rd party thing. First question would be - what exactly are the changes that TCE needs? Could those changes impact the game in a way, that causes older players (the only players) to shy away? Second question - who? A team, a talented individual? An update is not going to rise by itself, and it seems like the community does not really possess the people it needs for pumping out something of that caliber.

Thread will probably get locked in a few days.

Only way in which I have to contribute is:

Please do a single installation package for Win, Mac and Linux on the same model in Urban Terror. Just download, unzip and run the game in pendrive on any Operating System.

Information, which I found most interesting in TrueCombat:

1. Aim at the corner of the walls.
2. Character animation.
3. Telescopic sights TC: E (in CQB was perfect).

ET:Legacy + CQB_dim works quite well. Havent tried on the intrnet though...
So maybe some work with cqb_dim to make it better?


EDIT: Noticed that its TCE thread. But ET:Legacy + TCE works fine too. No Punkbuster however...

It's been 7 years since the last TCE patch. The development of TCE officially ended 6 years ago.

I believe you are a little late, my friend :D

But keep churning out those maps if you want to help. I checked out Rain yesterday and thought it was great!

Is my point, Game got greened on steam, but how can it compete. Needs an update, official/3rd party, what ever. OR switched to modified ET or TC standalone engine. As originally planed by Coroner.
Also, The standalone was completed.

As for the maps, well, They would be much better if i was not limited by ET.

I think a 3rd party update to TCE is the only real option. Even if its only swapping to the TC standalone.

Unfortunately cqb_dim was only created to allow 3rd party mappers to test work while waiting for Coroner to finish his work with tc:cqb. I do not have the coding knowledge or permission/files to release a full working version of cqb_dim. With out Coroner any 3rd party updates to either TCE or CQB are going to be limited. That said, alot of the limitations are due to ET but like i said, A standalone TC engine was created and i am sure the bug fixes from et:l could be added to it although TC:standalone was beta when i last spoke with the creator of it.

Who is creating TC:standalone ? so it's old TC ? or TC:E ?
ppl play games more that they have micro transactions ingame. Ingame items to be purchased by real money or ingame money.

Ppl still play MWTC ? there is directx to opengl translation tool by valve

So I understand that theres only 2 ways to update TCE without Coroner.
1)make a pk3 with necessary updates
2)modernize ET engine to suit better with TCE and also incorporate code from other et engine modifications


*)Maybe some work to make TCE independent from ET content and thereby go fully standalone?

I've always wanted to update the weapon models and animations but it'd be a large task and I don't know how well it would be received. Oh well.

I agree that reload animations are outdated, and some do not make sense. I also got interented how they can be updated.http://www.truecombatelite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2571

In ideal game I would like to see fire mode selecting animations too(for example AK-type weapons you have to reach over weapon with left hand to select firemode)

EDIT: I wonder if there is possible to fiddle around with ET to get working AMD Catalyst control center anti-aliasing and texture filtering. That would be nice. Or some addon like ENBseries.
