Short Update ::

Next steps are to make pants pockets poffier, making them
more into a SpecOps look rather than a soldier. Also the grip on
the gun is gone in the upcoming screenies. PLUS clothes need
better wrinkles and his face is too clean.

Btw don't you mean, there's been numerous tries on porting TC:E alone ?


Think making a WIP with action, would be a better WIP than only
showing the map. Yay a map in another engine ;-/
We somewhat stepped up to getting the animation done ASAP,
so we can shoot each other over LAN in the WIP vid...
We do have scenes that we can use for as long as the map isn't
finished yet, so not worrying about that.

For now, I'll keep posting the progress until we get there

**Don´t mind the bad quality of the rubble or background scene**
Meant to show the character and no background would be boring.

I also made some work on the Osama Bin Laden compound. But I didn't get around to finishing it though. :P

Could you post those screens on another provider and then edit your post
and remove the images of the provider you just posted ?
My anti virus is blocking the website - images and giving me a warning ;-(

I don't really know about this, but mostly I've seen it in other indie games. You guys are showing something "touchable" at least, not like them internet warriors.

Today's camo color test for the SpecOps. Somewhere down the line I forgot
to reposition the gun... Gun is bigger than in yesterday's screenies.

Next step is to make the clothes dynamic and apply some physics
on them for a more natural look (wrinkles) also rework his vest
and pants pockets in Blender. After that we bake animation

Wuut. With that you mean windows-only? So no Linux or OS X. We NEED at least support for Linux :) I think quite a few play ( or played ) play TC:E on a Linux machine.

Well Caesar, I'm really liking all of I'm seeing here. I need congratulate you, not only by the initiative but mostly by the results that you have in hands. So, an ask - how much work you think that you will have for release a playable version of TCE part, and after, for a whole game? I'm really interested to see the whole version of your game...
Another ask - you think about ingame features of admin/management of server, as a B3-like features implemented directly in the game? It have good server admin/management softwares, but all of them needs to be instaled as a third-part software and lot of providers not make easy our life with these things.

Hi Guys,

The game will also be launched on MacOS ;-) For Linux we have to figure some
things out first, as that OS isn't supported as a standard version of our engine.
Can't guarantee it will launch on Linux anytime soon however....

The guy in those last pictures does look a bit feminine with his babyface, but luckily
that's the standard face and won't be used. From what game are the characters you
posted, Grandad ?

For server administration we are implementing a piece of our own software, there
will be no 3rd party software that's going to be used. Not even punkbuster
~Don't worry about cheaters.....~

When the playable game and when full version will come out :

Let me first explain the steps (in short) :
Make Characters
Make gear and clothing
Add their animation
Add maps

Making characters is done quite fast, but their gear and clothing is something
that is going to take up time to get it right. Something that takes up A LOT of
time is doing the animations for the character. Yes, even with a Mocap installation
at home, it will take time.

When most of the animations are done, we're taking them for a spin on a bridge,
that Vid will be it's first real WIP video and is expected within the next 40 days.

After the WIP a sprint is eminent, finishing all animations and 2 maps, then it will
be launched as a 'demo' / test version. Note that at this point some elements
of the game won't be finished yet (3 players to chose from, limited gun choice,
not all materials will be finalized and some things here and there that still need
work).

During the testversion, we're tweaking tweaking tweaking everything and will
add objective gameplay, the rest of the characters and finish up the materials.
CQB and another Objective gameplay will be added later, as an add-on / update.

Between the playable demo and full version, we're getting some help ;-)
This will ensure we can elevate this game to pro quality and will be
able to add maps at a much faster tempo.

Ok... this still didn't answer the question 'how long until playable version'
Let's say that at the moment I declare all animation sequences as
satisfactory and done, it will be something like 30 days before you can play.
From the moment we launch that playable version, add another 30-60 days
for the full version.

Here's another picture of characters I made, the left one is not available anymore,
I killed him, when I pressed the save button instead of save as ....

Today's task : Animation : Work on the walk and run cycles and setup Mocap for
custom moves. Might put up a raw animation sequence this weekend.
