It took some time since Dedust final version was released, and now I'm coming to you with some details of Extended Edition, which I'm working on for some time. The goal was to improve Objective game and I'm pretty sure, that this version could be more playable for that type of gaming. Let's take a look at a little map, that shows what have changed since final version:

Now it's time for more detailed information:

Re-designed Terrorists spawn, with new building (faster way to Bombsite A):

Re-designed bombsite A area:

New building near Terrorists spawn:

Improved side-mosque house:

New building in the central map area:

New path to the bombsite B:

Re-designed Spec Ops spawn with 2 new buildings:

Side-tunnel is now much longer:

Known issues:
  • extended version has much more triangles, so map may drop some FPS, even when map was much more optimized (all invisible surfaces was covered with caulk)
  • all plants on the sand are made by foliage, so in some places grass may go through the wall etc.
  • in first test version all windows had destructible glass, but it caused in many FPS, so I decided to cut all glass (maybe this will be fixed in some other way)
What may change in the future:
  • skybox (present skybox is the same as in the final version, but all fog was removed)
  • maybe new environment sound (if I will find some)
Other details:
  • present file size is 21 MB, but it will depend on how many changes will be made (especially new skybox would increase file size)
  • map will be probably released in next 1-2 weeks, final compilation is still not done

I hope you enjoy new Dedust :-) Stay tuned!

too bad it wont be finished earlier, would have considered taking it into wl right away(after some tests obv).

Yeah, I tried to deal with everything before WL starts, but there was too much issues to fix (like this glass in the windows, I was shocked when from the 90 fps I had ~20 fps while I was shooting through the glass).

Muslim is still singing in the mosque, but now just a little bit quietly :-)

New routes will definitely change the game type, and it was made on purpose. The main problem with Dedust, in my opinion, was the fact that there was only a little chance to sneak around bombsite A or B. I think little comparison will better show my mind: let's look eg. at the Northoport. To plant on A, we can choose "the alley", we can go on windows etc. But when we want to plant on B, we're going through the warehouse or we choose the tunnel. So we actually have an opportunity to sneak around and there is a chance that we wont be seen eg. from A, when we choose B.
In Dedust, all game was played in the mosque or in the central area of map, and even after modification that was made, the rounds were ending before the bomb was planted in the most cases.
In this Dedust, there will be much more options for attacking and defending style of game. Terrorist eg. will be able to rush A from two sides - from "fast A building" and the mosque. They will also be able to choose B with the longer tunnel etc. This causes much more cooperative defending style and offensive as well. With all these facts and all new details, map should be much more "alive" and people may enjoy it.

And the good news is that EE wont replace Dedust final version, so you can still choose which version you would like to play. :-)

Yo Simons, you make the best map texture quality in tce 049 while keeping it in a reasonable size. Keep it up mate! You definitely need to create more maps. If you are taking requests, I want to request dem_mongoth from tce 048. I can imagine the high quality textures you will bring to it!

Thanks

No WoO, you're not blind :-) There's still final compilation ahead, I will try to deal with that in next 5-6 days, so map will be officially published and download links will be put here.

dem_mongoth seems to be quite nice map, I will try to move this map to 0.49, or maybe do something similar, we'll see. I also think that Ready should put some information about CityHeat, all I can say right now is that this map will also be available for 0.49 in near future, thanks to Ready.

And thanks for all your opinions, stay tuned :-)
