Hello

I have well read the FAQ before posting here, but I didn't find any solution to solve my problem.

First of all, the files would not start copying onto my drive. It was sending me a "please retry the installation" thing.
I figured the Applications/Wolfenstein Enemy Territory/tcetest was locked, so I unlocked it, now the files are copying.

But.

When 100% of the files are copied, the installation doesn't end. It just says again, "please retry the installation".

Is there another folder I shall unlock, or is there any problem with this? (Wolf ET works normally).
I've heard someone deal with patching wolf ET first to 2.60, but the main installer was already 2.60. (the guy was a Win user, so maybe there's no need to patch it on Mac?)

Thank you for your support.

Oh, and I gotta say, thanks for having an interest in apple-lovers. That's a quality most of computer-programmers don't have. Though I must admit I'm not a big fan of that widescreen thing :?

Looking forward to having an answer soon enough ;).

Thanks.

Hi there,
I'm wondering if you are running an admin account? If not, then I would suggest reinstalling again as the administrator. If you are the administrator then I believe your permissions are all screwed up. Please post back so we can get you running TC:E.

I didnt expect the mac to be bothering with all those administrator issues but yes, sometimes it happens, depending on where you install your game the admin rights dont really work out.

Well, as I thought I am on the admin account, so there's still this damn error.

My brother (the computer's owner) has managed to install it once but it was buggy, at the main screen there weren't these "deployment" "host server" thingies. he de§installed it and now we can't seem to install it again :/

I know this is a pain, but delete your Wolfenstein Enemy Territory folder in the Applications folder, then go to ~/Library/Application Support/ and delete the Wolfenstein Enemy Territory folder in there. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences/ and locate and delete all references to Wolfenstein and True Combat. Next go to /Library/Receipts/ and delete any references to Wolfenstein. Now launch Disk Utility.app and repair permissions on your drive, once done try reinstalling Wolfenstein ET 2.60 and Punkbuster, launch the game and then quit it, now install TC:E and hopefully you'll be good to go. Don't forget to turn off automatic dowloading in the game's preferences, otherwise you might accidentally end up connecting to an old 0.48 server and screwing up your install.

Hope this helps.

Over @ FTK (2.5 America's Army Mac League)...we decided to take TC up as a 2nd game.

A few had that trouble to..it took me 2 hours to figure this out, but after a while i got it to work.

I will post a more detailed post on it that is easier to read.

Snoop

Moderator Edit: This guide will not work correctly as it does not take into consideration that the Wolfenstein Application requires special files from the installer that allows TCE to work on the Mac. Guide removed.

Yes...if your on a Mac you have to download "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" before downloading True Combat.

Hope that was a help...

Snoop, the installer does install TCE directly into the Wolfenstein ET folder no matter where it is on your system. You should not install it separately, otherwise the Wolf ET.app cannot be patched to run TCE. The mod not only depends on just having the tcetest folder located in the WET folder, it also depends on other resources compiled especially for Mac Wolf, hence the reason to patch the application. The read me which pops up in the installer, clearly states that the installer assumes that Wolf ET resides in the default location of Applications. However, if you have another directory or drive that your game is located in, then simply point it to there, but not the Wolfenstein folder itself.

For example, you have Wolf ET on another drive:

Code:
volumes/media drive/games/wolfenstein enemy territory/

Simply point the installer to 'Games" then all will be fine. So to summarise, point the installer to the drive/folder where the game exists - as stated in the read me.
