I wasn't aware of the new version and when I joined a server yesterday, it went through the typical update process. I played a bit on the server and thought it had installed some silly stuff to mess with my resolution, so I set it to 1024x768 and the game crashed.

Now, when I load up TC, I can't get past the new logo screen. I have no buttons to play online, options, any of that. All of my control buttons are gone and the only thing I can do is hit escape to exit. I just uninstalled TC and installed 49 fresh, but I'm getting the same thing.

Any easy way to bring back my buttons so I can play?

delete or rename you tcetest folder and then install .49

if you delete tcetest folder theres nothing to launch it with? My folder didn't 49 folder didnt have any exe things or anything

Delete the old folder, then unpack 049's tcetest folder to the main WET directory.
