Is the MDK really needed? I mean, isn't pointing GtkRadiant to the game installation the same as using the textures from the MDK?

not really.
it might work for the base game enemy territory
but it will be somwhat buggy if you try to do the same for TC:elite .
you will most liekly have allot of missing shader images and you will not see any of the mod's models .

I'm not sure what you mean. I can see all the TCE textures. What I did was point radiant to my enemy-territory game directory. Then configured the project for a Custom Mod and called it tcetest. Then I could see all the coroner textures. For example, I can see the Objective textures, wood, brick, etc. What does the MDK give that I don't already have access to in the TCE game directory?

I have yet to make a test map (a large, hollow box as the environment with an Objective in the middle). I figure that if I can make this test map, it should show me that my setup is ok??

Looks like there is more mapping info at the truecombat.com site.

What is the difference between the truecombat.us and truecombat.com sites?

Truecombat.us is a separate forum for North America, intended to help increase the amount of North American players, I think.

The forums at truecombat.com is intended for everyone, and for the old Q3 version of the game.

do you see the shader images or the textures?

the MDK gives you the TC:elite specfic entities list and shader list.txt .

plus the models that were used the beta test version.

differnt setups have differnt results but most people have the best results if everything is unpacked to one place.

Thank you everyone for your patients...I'm technically a noob when it comes to mapping.

I have installed the MDK..actually I copied the files in the MDK to their corresponding folder. I see all the textures..as for the shaders I'm not sure.

I am able to modify dem_hideout and recompile it. I even am able to load the modified map. The only thing I notice is that when I compile there are a lot of "not found" when it comes to scripts. I assume these errors are related to the fact I haven't unpacked the pk3s yet.
