Hello,

In 2008 I really wanted to include any HUMVEE model in my Iraq map - OBJ_TM_KARBALA / OBJ_TM_DARFUR, but didn't find any free model for it :(
http://tompl.isgreat.org/?group=2&id=obj_tm_karbala

Today i have little time so made simple hummer truck model:

Feel free to download / modify etc. as is under BSD license.

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/264260 ... 110124.rar

I know it looks now creepy because textures are very weak, only as place holders.

HMMWV is the proper acronym. Not that it matters, just thought you might like to know. Any they are pieces of shit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1126_Infantry_Carrier_Vehicle is much better.

Agree that HMMWV is kinda bad, but it really depends from the terrain.
It gets stuck easily from its belly and it is quite heavy too. Many other ATV:s do it better, even simple UAZ 469 (terrific vehicle btw!). Been towing few hummers away from forests with a normal 6x6 (with double wheels on back) truck.

I guess that with real army equipment the HMMWV is much heavier.

Another problem is the HMMWV is very top heavy and rolls easy when it is armored up. Plenty of soldiers died just because their HMMWV rolled over.

Their biggest issue is that they don't have the best engine. They used the 6.2/6.5L Detroit Diesel engines, which are one of the worst engines built by GM. The 6.2 was actually built off of a 350 gas engine block, and converted to a diesel engine. As you might think, not the greatest idea. The 6.5 is better, but not by much. The Army thought about upgrading the current fleet to duramax diesels, which are substantially better engines, but they found that it would be in their best interest to find a replacement altogether.

Going for the Duramax would be terrible.
They should go for an old simple engine, engine that you could repair in harsh environment too with just basic tools and that would be durable/reliable instead of having fancy modern gadgets, that break even when you breath towards them.

Isn't the Duramax LLY already in civilian H1? That common-rail crap doesn't suite at all in military vehicles. Where do you need high exhaust emission control when there is bombs blowing up around you?

I'm talking purely from a mapper's perspective. HMMWV's are as common on those kinds of maps as crates are on, well, every map.

At least we found disarmed chemical weapons that were banned by the U.N.... granted they had been disarmed for a while

I have a 2500 with an old school LB7, there would be nothing wrong with the newer duramaxes in a military vehicle, and im pretty sure you wouldn't need anything extra on it, i really doubt we care about air quality in iraq.

Anyways, do you want the model or not varsovie?

Very nice Rang3r1_v2. Where have You been in 2008 :(
Any chance to release it under GPL with separate textures to let any W:ET use it in own mods ?

Maybe CQB will include Your model :) As HMMWV is classic element of modern warefare.

How big (size) is md3 model and any chance to prepare low-poly to smooth include in pk3 maps to not have like oldtown map 100MB pack :(
