You haven't promised anyone anything, in fact you've been very careful to do just the opposite -- the only onus with respect to TC is everyone should be showing you more respect and appreciation.

If doing cs/toon style art on this project is the road to more development enthusaism for you, for the love of everything good in gaming and your sanity; take that road and don't look back!

Edit: How about an 'unofficial leaked' screen shot of what this actually looks like on CQB?

i hope coroner changes the player models completely from scratch because they look like crap.

Shut the *i-need-a-broader-vocab* up, for the last time.

The limitations of the player models are as follows:

1. Very limiting toolset, even with lightscape it is a pain in the ass to fix the player models.
2. the .mdm player model has to be compiled from a .skel file, which is a pain in the ass in itself, and very rarely is a quick thing.
3. I would to it, however, max 4 does not, and will never, work in vista. The plugins do not work in any other version of max, sadly.
4. Coroner does not have the support to create any better player models, and he isn't going to steal assets like *i-need-a-broader-vocab* like you do, so don't ask.

If one more person "demands" that he fixes them, I am going to flame you so hard you cry.

Actualy runing animations are kinda crap. Now lets take a look at the counter strike

Isnt cartoonish look already possible made ay mapper? I remember those wonderfull (2) maps where all were looking so cartoonish (i remember checking and discovering there was not any new gun models or so. Only map objects)

And isnt cell shading totaly new Tecnique or does id tech 3 support it ?


And no i dont want to see cell shading. Playing on ps3 already gives you way enough it than you should have.

Sheesh... The reactions and histrionics in this thread are a Poster Child for why Coroner should take CQB in any radically different direction that satisfies him. Or never release anything...

if cell shading does require engine modification i would rather take those missing pixel shaders....

If the game realy looks better with them without engine modifiaction im would like to see option to turn it off atleast (more flexible desing = more happy people ? )

Why if it does look better? As i stated im not a fan of cell shading but sadly ps3 uses it way too much. And im a sony fanboy...

dude it would be an optional mini mod anyway, if anything at all... so dont worry about ur normal tce look ;)
and ye cell-shading would be fun to see for a change and some fun nights.

Just thinking about another dream, could it be possible to get 0.49 .map files?
I think tce community has some good mappers that could bring a second life to well known maps & maybe change few parts. Not saying they're not good as they are now, few things suck after years playing on 5 maps (last time i played snow is too far to remember)

first thing to come in mind (even if i'm not a BC fan) is SPAWNRAPE, ROE's job is awesome but some maps are just not fun when u already have the weakest team, map balance totally ruins the game.

For noob mappers like me it's a good How to map like pro tutorial :D

I dont disagree that it realy looks nice but i can not believe playing with those always. It cant be huge deal.... Or is it :? ?

Apparently some here have a very limited idea of the variety of what cell shaded art can look like, it doesn't have to be 2d, 5 color, Simpsons art... And 'Toon' doesn't have to mean funny or lacking in serious aesthetic.

Regardless, you get whatever Coroner does for FREE, you pay absolutly NOTHING for it, and too many here are worse then ungreatful; especially so when presenting the attitude that Coroner somehow 'owes' anyone anything...

Whatever motivates Coroner, keeps him enthusiastic, moving forward, and sharing his progress regarding whatever creative game design and development endeavor he's spending his spare time on, should be encouraged at every level -- not discouraged...
