Hmmm... I don't know any of these maps in obj. style. There are some BC server that contain them. If the community doesnt rotate these maps op public obj. servers why do we have to plat them in a league. That is pretty weird for me.

For real... Villa and raid really gets me dancing......

Raid isn't that fun. Its more work than play. If the warehouse had entrances and exits, it would be MUCH more pleasing. Instead, you're forced to rush through the first part of the map, dodging snipers, only to get heavily camped on the second part. Not balanced enough. I'm indifferent to Villa.

One of the few maps that has 100% unique playing style, just like Urwald.

It's always the same *cry* when it comes to play a custom map.
Since years those maps were on some OBJ servers, maybe some players prefered to play on the 6 official maps since 4 years or more. But this is definitly what is WEIRD, not adding new maps to a league. ^^

adding well made, bug free, competitively viable 3rd party maps is not weird. adding raid to a pub server is not weird. having it on your clan server to play around on is not weird.

unfortunately -

there has not been 1 3rd party map up to the aesthetic/bug free/balanced standard of the main 4 maps (village and snow have their flaws)

in q3tc incredible 3rd party maps were created and used competitively because they were good. this is simply not the case in tc:e. it has taken 3 years for a mapper in .49 (simons) to create a map that is even close to competitive standard for s&d (dust) in terms of the above criteria.

say what you will about raid, it simply is not a good map for COMPETITIVE S&D.

however, for the purpose of this entirely trivial and most of all FUN NC, I think raid is a perfect addition. but then by that note, so should a jump map, and knife rounds, and shotguns only, and ctf, and ....


stop making the argument that 3rd party maps arent used cause players are stupid and stubborn - they arent used cause they are inferior in every way apart from being overplayed.

ahem.

how you consider, well, lets say SnowTown, being inferior to official maps?
It is bugfree, it is balanced, it looks good enough?
Have you tried to play OldTowne in obj?
It is bugfree, it even looks much better than official maps, the spots are "balanced" enough.

And what is "balanced" anyways?

Is it like Villages B spot or Deltas A spot? Maybe like Northports B spot then?
Or does it mean that SpecOps should have more control on the map, like Delta?

:shock: FYI it was 2 weeks max total...
he did not created it but copied from cs, so all he had to do id build structure from cs, not stamdard mappers problems would ie be faster that way or that way just copy paste. furthermore added few new routes after complains in beta tests, what did that map almost complete for teamplay imho :) map was balanced and very popular in cs so should be same in tce... blah blah pro :)

I agree hobocop raid is not the best choice but noone said anything when it was time to give a constructive feedback.

I also agree with Bio some custom maps are just as good as official maps (villa2, werk_ost, oldtowne, town&metro, etc ...), with just the problem that the "random player" do not play it since 4 years in funwars using the same spot every round ...

Well, all of this doesn't really matter, 'cause the maps have been decided already, we all knew that there would be whining.
Lets just enjoy this situation, it could be much worse, just imagine the whining if the maps chosen would have been Office, Neighborhood and Ersatz
