AE sniper challange. Oh, how fun that map is with 50+ people. Every step you make you either get gray matter blown from your skull or get shredded by a rocket.

I thought the name AE Annoying *i-need-a-broader-vocab* Panzer-n00b Challange would be a better name. :P

But it's still a fun map.

Well, they did have alot of ladders there. Thats wher most snipers try to shoot from. Since I camp for hours in that map and normally I would scan the entire map. I know exactly where people are hiding, and the very minute they show themselves, bang, headshot, moving or not.

here's where I camp: that little rocky ledge by the roof on the far die (away from the power lines) ALWAYs good cover, and easy to get away from.

it's hilarious on low grav so you can jump high, but not over the ravine, people fall in all the time :P
high grav is fun too. you jump into the trenches for health and BAM you die from falling.

The very moment they make a jump I make a moving headshot all the time. SUpposing they jump in the area I am currently watching.

sorry since this i my thread,
i can see that this is going offtopic,
and is really not about "use weopon while climbing the ladder" anymore,

so thats why,
im gonna Quote all the importent things that has been discussed,
and i hope you guys stay on-topic after this post:

Dragonathan wrote:
if the developers add this feature in the game,
it will be revolutionary in the gaming scene!!!

ok i got this idea for climbing on the ladders.

if i climb on the ladders,
i want to be able to still use my weopon and shoot.

you can aim/shoot left-side, by pressing the left arrow key,
you can aim/shoot on right-side, by pressing the right arrow key
you can aim/shoot down below/backwards, by pressing the down arrow key.
evrytime you press one of those arrow keys,
you will be in A "ready to shoot" locking position,
to unlock yourself from that position just climb up or down.

example:

XenoKiLLer wrote:
that should be implemented, like i said, when your on a ladder your technically a sitting duck with both winds tied to yuor back (in the ladders case, hanging on the ladder)

Dragonathan wrote:
this is actually possible,
i whas playing ET:pro last night,
and i whas on a costum map,
where you can climb on tree's, while shooting,
maybe couldnt shoot left right, backwards, up & down.
but the point is, that could still shoot while climbing.
so this features must be possble to implent in the game.

XenoKiLLer wrote:
but the thing is, you cnat hold on to the gun with both hands while your climbing, so, the method in ET is incorrect. A person needs both hands to climb, then stops to shoot with only one hand. In ET, you can shoot and climb.

Dragonathan wrote:
yess.. you should only shoot with 1 hand,
thats more realistic,
but when your use rifle with 1 hand while climbing,
the should swing a little bit with your rifle,
because in real life, when your holding a rifle with 1 hand,
you probably would swing the rifle a little bit,
a rifle is kind of heavy when you just hold it with 1 hand,

*edit*but it should "NOT" swing when your using a pistol.*edit*

XenoKiLLer wrote:
you still have to maintain both hands as you climb. You should only be able to shoot with one hand, but you cant climb at the same time. You can slide down though, but supposing your climbing a ladder. If you were climbing something else, like a pipe, you probably need both hand and feet to get a good grip at it.

Dragonathan wrote:
i've never seen this feature in any other FPS game though,
so it would be a major break trough in the FPS gaming scene, if this is done in TC 0.49.

Why does it look like you have cropped these from several parts of the thread to make it look like a 100% agreeing conversation? Well, there is no point to having this in 049 because it is in the middle of its final testing phase with the beta team and that may take several release candidates before a public version is available.

Simple solution to this problem, dont climb up a ladder with out backup and without making sure it is clear.

This is *i-need-a-broader-vocab* terrorist versus spec ops. not some Sam Fisher stealth action game.

Firing from ladders is so Nintendo 64 Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

Yes, you can fire from ladders in ET but not this game.

The amount of irony has reached critical mass in your situation Dragon. You want to fire from a ladder, the most UNrealistic fashion of firing. You might as well be allowed to run around in bullet time jumping off walls and jumping from buildings while holding two MP5k's and still laying accurate shots upon people.

DO not bring up the Johnwoo thing again. You could have that for CTF as extra stuff, but never for BC or OBJ where the idea of realism is alot more serious. It is less serious in BC but not as unrealistic as CTF.

it seems you wanna say that all terrorist and specops are rambo's and never use stealth,

serieus,
when silentcrisis is in a real war, the only thing he probably gonna do is, bitch and flame to his team mates,

lol if hes on a real combat mission with me,
and when the mission is to get to the top of a building by climbing the ladder, and when im like halfway on the top, someone attack me from the top of the building, and i use my rifle to shoot the enemy back,
the first thing silent is gonna do is bitch & flame like this:

Silentcrisis says: ITS UNREALISTIC TO USE WEOPON WHEN YOUR CLIMBING THE LADDER, YOUR NOT SAM FISHER!!

thats probably the first thing he's gonna say,

Dude, this is just a game, a game with graphics that follow a set limited number of rules. There are things you cna do and cant do in real life. It is currently impossible to simulated every reallife detail in a game at this century or millenia. This game wasnt meant to train soldiers like "America's army government version" is, it is meant to entertain people. I dont know what you find entertaining with so many controls to memorize and too much finger work to play. That isnt entertainting and Im very sure that noone wants to paly that kind of gmae, besides you probably. Simple yet challenging games are still better than overly complicated ones, just look at what happened to those older tbs games, too complicated, poor results.

whats so complicated about pressing the left/right/up/down arrow keys?
if thats really difficult for you, than you must be a monkey with a empty brain,

its not that i suggested to press key Q and E for each step or something,
its not that difficult, its realy simple.

oh another thing, if you want arcady games, you have to make thins as simple ass possible,

you want less arcade, than you have to have features that many arcade shooters dont have.

Watch your typing, another attack from you isnt going to be tolerated next time. Consider this your final warning.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is just a game. There is no need to make it too realistic, although that isnt realistic at all. Make a game with plenty of features is good, but too much features is bad as it makes games far too hard to play. That simple. What would be more usefull instead of shooting from the side of a ladder is shooting up a ladder when someone is camping above the ladder, or shooting down a ladder when someone is following you up the ladder.

Xeno has said this before. Have one of your teammates give you cover fire as you climb up.

And also, shooting from a ladder with an Assault Rifle really kills the whole "realism" factor you have wanted for so long Dragon.

if a soldier cant shoot a rifle with 1 hand from a ladder,
than he must be a soldier with 1 arm,

Yeha, only one arm because both arms are trying to hold his weight, his guns, his ammo, his armor, his med suppply, his canteen, his cloths, and the last thing he ate up the ladder. Not al ladders are as easy to climb up as those ladders you buy from hardware stores.
