Post subject:  look down from a (railing/belcony fence)

i want clear view down when im up near A edge.

example:

when i look down from point A.
I cant see point B. clearly,
what I only can see is the point C. erea.

so it would be better if devs improve this,
and make us able to see point B. clearly
when we're looking down from point A.

I have A solution for this issue,

when people are near A edge, like point A.
they should see A action icon,
like the "pick up weopon" "open the door" action icons...

when when they select the action icon,
that will lock them self into A position
wich only allows them to, look left, right, up,
and to look down more better,
just like when you're using the machine gun in ET.
and if they wanna unlock themself from that postion, they should just walk backwards,

its somethnig limited with the engines. The way vision is rendered isnt so realistic. Like in the Unreal Engine, if you look sideways you could see further through fog. In the quake Engine, vision angle is a bit too limited, if you increase it it will look like a distorted fish eye view.

I had a thought. you could use something like a free look mode. you hold a key and use the mouse to pan the view around, your body wont move but your will. There should be limited rotation and when you turn your head close the the limits the edges blur up. (e.g. when you turn your head left as far as you could, you can still see a bit further back but it gets blurry)

As I understand it, looking up and down is limited because if you were able to go all the way, the model contorts funny and really looks horrible.

what can be done is move the look-up/down animation from the waist to the neck, that way it should appear more real as noone looks up/down from their waist.

maybe only a 180 degree sweep for it, you can look beside you, but you can't check your back :P
being able to look further down would be fun, but might I suggest a penalty, if you did the "hit a key, get on te edge" thing, and hit forward instead of bacwards, you'd fall off.

now lets say the current "looking-down-system" is example Example A.
your limited to look down clearly.
now like i suggested,
there should be A action icon when you near A edge,
when you select the action icon, you will lock your self to a position that makes you look down more better, like example B.
you can look up down left right, and your still able to move
left sidewards, right sidewards,
while you do all that you're still in A "locking-down-system"position,
to unlock yourself from the "look-down-system" position,
just move backwards,

and Xenokiller... before you reply, make shure you have read the hole post, dont skipp anything, read the post word by word.

technically, unless you have a tail you cant stand looking down a ledge like that. the body's center of gravity is located around the lower mid portion of the torso. If by any chance you stand over an edge with the center of gravity balancing on the ledge like that, grvity will pull you down.

What you might be trying to say but couldnt get to drawing is: Gun pointed downward, head looking down not what the drawing was showing which is body bent down over the ledge.

Why dont you try doing what you drew see if it is possible without falling at some point.

but you are right, I know I"d peek, and if you pull your weapon up, you can have a semi-effective turret.
but mags from reloads there should fall down, and possible wound people below.

or you go back when you reload
