Damien, PSK/PSA is not supported anymore, so pretty much a bad idea to use.
Is completely unsupported .mdm/.mdx alternative better?

PSK/PSA support is well documented and import/export plugins exist for a variety of modelling programs. This alone makes it better than the non-existent fbx support, not to mention it has already been added in ET.

I don't really care what the industry standard is if there's no-one to implement it, no matter what my wishes are.

There was an mdm/mdx exporter for Blender just a couple years back that I remember. I never tested it but the guy had it working well enough. I don't think he had an importer but I don't remember. I'll look and see if I can dig it up again and try it out.

That being said, I think PSK/PSA is a solid format and even md5 is well supported that it should work just as fine. Banking on something like the above mdm/mdx support should probably be a last resort kinda thing.

If something comes into fruitation, I'll definitely try and help out where I can but I'd rather wait until there's more evidence that people want to go forward with something.

http://sauerbraten.org/iqm/

is pretty much the current standard for all quake based engines and it does everything needed and comes with well working exporters and converters.

Yes, iqm is the format to go for in a Q3-based engine. I am not sure whether iqm is fully working in ioquake3. It is supported, but I think it is not really tested.

For god's sake coroner, just release the source for TCE, already. There is no way a sequel to TCE will ever compete with any other commercial modern warfare FPS, no matter what engine you put it in. TCE had appeal because it's free, super lightweight, and (used to) run on practically every OS, and you should capitalize on these advantages rather than going into the ground that will forever belong to commercial or shareware shooters. Add that to your lack of time and list of piled failed projects through all these later years, you can be assured there will be no way a TCE sequel or remake will ever become successful. So please, just give us the source for the game and let us do the rest. TC already has enough bastard children running amok. Let us at least have one main trunk we can turn into a universal standalone package that runs on every system, fixes current bugs, and maintains the online experience. There is virtually nothing to be gained by keeping the source closed other than the stagnation and loss of the heritage you and others helped to build. Show some respect to the people who have sticked to TCE after all these years and give them a chance to keep this thing running properly.
