I think it's not about graphics at all. Just look at game like Minecraft, it's shit graphics but it's so popular. And BF3 has great graphics and people are getting tired of it. So what it comes down to is gameplay and community experience.

Sometimes revival of a game can just be simple updates to what made the game great in the first place -adding more realism - textures, player skins, guns, sounds, etc.

It would help too if there was 1 file click to install and run. Right now you must download like 5 different files and patches, last working PB files, etkey. Who's going to bother with that.

MWTC is great for people that buyed COD and have a new computer running only MS Windows.

COD4 is also for MacOS and linux (use wine emulator)

I believe you both are right :) But don't forget something very basic - in world of video games you simply have to be a trend-setter if you want fresh blood and healthy gaming community. Q3TC (for example) was ahead of its time with its "realistic" gameplay, use of iron sights, game missions and game levels with believable atmosphere. And so was TC:E that also is free to play.
Also, every now and then you simply have to change the game enough that it doesn't become boring.

Indeed, sxy. I actually remember Q3TC as the first game I ever played that had iron-sights. It's the overall feel that sets TC out from the crowd.

As far as I know all maps would have to re-lighted for the lightning engine of Xreal to make the real time shadows appear correctly.

@csMKJP: forget about xreal - it is not worth any trouble. I worked on tce-like project based on it and it was a major pain in the ass. Although normal, specular and parallax mapping are all very well done , but renderer is terribly buggy. Has lots of weird post-process artefacts, half of features doesn't work properly on ati hardware and last but not least the ET version is terribly resource hungry. Oh and documentation is practically nonexistent. etc etc

Can TCE have writing on player skin like this? That would look so bad ass.

just a note, COD4 on Linux is not so good. myself found some problems with shadows and others details.

I hope I will find time to try this new TCE, but I'm quite demoralized about the choice of COD4. but it seemed to me that the old TEC had a good number of Linux users.

You still need to buy COD and the performance for non-native applications in linux isn't the greatest, especially on old computers. But anyways..

I was just thinking, why no TCE harlem shake edition?

In the start one person could just lean left, right, left, etc. and then everybody jump around, flash bang, shoot in air, do the snake haha.

I am no expert, but I doubt posting "For-whatever-reason-popular-thing *insert any game* edition" video is going to promote anything aside from the latest retarded things people come up with.

On a day to day basis, are any servers filled to a comfortable 8v8 pub match? Also, how bad is the hacking at this point?
