Well, you aren't gonna get that just yet :) .

What we are developing soundwise are a couple of nice new gun shots, some increase in dynamic range of the soundscape(read: there's stuff that\s more quiet and more loud) and perhaps even some terrorist voices.

We're testing stuff right now. The most exciting aspect is probably the introduction of working 44kHz soundplayback in the ET engine, so in the next release, all you fellas better switch to 44khz sound in the prefs of the game to get the goodies.

That sounds really cool dynamic sound effects are always important for the emersion part and can really help out gameplay sometimes! I hope to hear more about the sounds in TC:E from you soon airon.

I have the voice actor ready to record the new terrorist sounds within the next two weeks. As soon as I have some recording samples, I will post them here. Also, the SpecOps voices will be re-recorded and mastered with a touch more emotion on certain voice binds and a new radio effect that is more tolerable in large amounts. Stay tuned for more info regarding voices.

Do you have samples of your work online somewhere? Just PM me with a link.

We CAN always use some help in sound here.

Traumahawk handles the voiceovers, so if you'd like to do a set, contact him to design the radio voice sound and find out what lines need doing. AFAIK the voice set can be chosen on a per map basis, but please correct me if I'm wrong TH. Should that work, you guys could figure out additional voice sets. I for one wouldn't mind doing a german set myself.

The general soundscape is being worked on for the next release, where 44kHz sounds will enter, plus a much needed expansion of the dynamic range by pulling down most sounds so new stuff does not have to be crunched so hard. The AK47 for example is pulled down by 6 dB, as are most weapon sounds that were left unchanged.

If you'd like to contribute sounds like weapon fire, better footsteps, body sounds like gear rattling or anything else you can think of, speak up.

I figure the footsteps is one aspect nobody's working on right now and if you'd like to do a weapon set, here's what I've already changed, so you don't waste your time on those sounds. I've already introduced new sound for the R93(& SR8), Sig550, Sig552sd, M76, MP5, UMP45, Beretta, DE50 and Mossberg590 shotgun.

We have some new weapons incoming though, which nobody's created any sounds fo yet, so perhaps that would present a more interesting challenge?

In any case, post your example work. I'll let you know about the weapons we're working on, if you're interested in that sort of sound work.

i would give it a try on the weapons issue its not my idiom per se

i can work with sound of course and even come up with different distinct and consistent sounds for guns but i think the real kicker would be if we could start from actual samples of the weapons in question and work from there

the new sounds released with tc 1.2 were awesome so in many ways i think you are doing that aspect more than well enough airon :)

No, your computer will just have to compute more graphics and more sounds which shouldn't be too bad for it. Unless you have a really, really, really shitty computer.

It isn't a problem for me because I have every thing such as sounds and graphics maxed out and still get 50 Ping. :P

Yeah, definantly.

I was running the game on 512mb of RAM. But now I have 2GB's of RAM so its really up to speed now.

i still play around the recommended system specs, yet it does run quite fine, the only problems i have are the server loadup lagg and the no0bs.

similar to ET. I think its like a 1.33 Ghz 256mbs 64mb video card. but mine has 512mb ram, 2ghs and 128mb vcard.

No, the sound sampling will go from 22kHz to 44kHz, something even the basic Soundblaster Pro of yesteryear could output without issue. Remember, usually issues with sound reproduction involve complex sound environments such as EAX, something this game does not utilize. In addition, you will notice the option to select your sampling rate. This is an option for you.
