I dont know, I hardly even notice the difference. but with EAX surely it is really easy to tell where the sound is comnig from.

ok, I wanted to get this in, most shots from a sniper will be silent because the bullet actually flies faster than the speed of sound. So you would have to take the shot then hear the shot from the gun. Some cases have been reported of people taking headshots, living and the last thing they heard was the sound of there head crushing in, not the sound of the gun, but a horrid sound of flesh and bone caving in on them. A fairly nasty thought, but in a way kind of cool. And some people have been shot in the leg or arm, or a minor area, and heard the bullet hit the ground behind them from the bullet going straight through, then hitting the ground, then hearing the gun, and some people don't even hear the gun because of the range. Interesting if you ask me. :P

the bullets are subsonic, if they were supersonic they would make a very loud boom everytiem you fire and thats not the burst sound.

It is traveling slow enough not to break the sound barrier, but fast enough to cause the cone of sound to actually go behind the tip of the bullet, so the bullet passes through the body, or into, and the person does not hear the osund until the end of the sound wave hits them. It's only about 7/10ths of a second, but in bullet terms, that is long enough. This si a crappy picture I found that says it. Image

We know that, but what you will immediately hear before the bullet itself is the sound of the bullet hitting your body, mayit be your bones or the blood curdling sound of the bullet tearing into your tissue.
