I enjoy large servers. And so do a lot of the players who play on large servers. If they didn't then they would leave. It's very inconsiderate to say a that the game should be FORCED to a number of players, just because you don't like it. Other people do like large servers. Please take in feedback from the people who play on large servers before you start with on of your big ideas.

One of the best ways to get influence on an idea is to first get feed back from players. Ask around, get opinions, and then make suggestions. I know you don't do this because I play on large servers, and a lot of my buddies do as well. If you'd ask most of the players I play with they'd say they play on big servers for the action. Also, they play the game for the realism type combat, not the stealthiness of the game. The reason why some players don't like the stealthy aspect of the game is because stealthiness isn't effect against good players. A skilled player consistently checks his or her back, and never stays in a spot that can easily be flanked.

This game isn't going to be tethered to you, nor any other man or chick who post a lot. Let the devs make the game as they please. It's their sandbox, their time, and your not obliged to pay, so don't post every little idea you have, unless of course you do have some positive feedback from a multitude of players, and more than one type of server. Also. check what the BC and CTF servers want. Also, go on big servers and small servers and ask around. Also there is more to TC:E than OBJ mode, if their wasn't then the devs would have never waisted their time making BC and CTF.

P.S. Don't quote a portion of a post and take it out of context. Doing so has a negative effect on your image. Making you seem more and more like joke. And don't act like you don't, because you do it a lot. It's better to ignore the post than try to take one part out of context.

well let me tell you something, 1 year ago don suggested to limit the players to 20, evryone flamed him and disagreed, but guess what, in 0.49 the limits of players in obj are indeed 20.

i see noone complaining now, why? because it turned out to be okay.
i dont need to ask people around, if i have a suggestion i hold it for a couple of weeks, and think what the negative and the positive part's are and what the benefits are, the benefit of what i suggested is that it would make new players enjoy more and make them have the total experience. and the pro's shouldnt mind that unless they prefer a crowded server where you can barely get out of your spawn.

to dig my suggestions you will need to be more progressive and less conservative.

If you want to limit it to 18 players then get a server and set the limit to 18. There is no need to open up a million lines of code, find the line that controls the limits, then recompile and release a patch jsut to ge twhat you want. ALl it takes is to simply get a server and set the limit via the server settings. If you look at WET, the limit is set to 32 players but it is entirely up to the server owner what they want, if they want 64 they can have 64, if they want 128, they can have 128.

Dragonathan, I play on BC with a large amount of players. I prefer to fight my way out of a spawn camp. It's one of the few challenging things left for me to do. If you ever played with me you'd be like OMG Frylock hacks! I can safely say this because dam near every one who hasn't played as long as I have says I hack, and even a lot of the seiner players still accuse me of hacking. If I can't fight more than one enemy in a single gun fight then the game remains too easy and boring. However, on large servers I can also get into a messy gun fight where I am out numbered. Before the new update I always used a mac 10 to keep the game challenging. And their are other players like me. Some people prefer to be faced with difficult odds to keep the game interesting, and the odds are that you have a high chance to come across a more difficult situations in a crowded server. Also, the more player the higher chance there is for another skilled player to be on.

Dragonathan, the main point I want to get across is that you need to start thinking about BC, CTF, and OBJ people want, not just OBJ people, or just BC people. Every one has their own taste in games, just like every one has their own taste in porn. I for one prefer tranny midgets being spun around like a top, or wild passionate night with Janet Reno caught on tape.

if you want a 20 player server for obj, go on a 20 player obj server. though low player numbers are better for lag, sometimes you just wanna open up to a 20v20 brawl. hard-coding a limit of 18 would be too much work. your best bet isto tell server admins that the higheest reccomended player number is 18. if they want a 20v20 fun server, then so be it.

also, ou got flamed for this idea, so dd son. see a pattern?

big servers CAn be fun.you just need to give them a chance, and if you dont like them, then stfu. if your faveorite server is a 32 player laggy hell, then contact the admins and see if they can
1. lower the number on the main server
or
2. make a second server with less people.

Most clans do have more than one server. One is public and the other is private, or they have one for each game type. The reason the servers are crowded all the time is ebcuase there arent enough people playing TCE to make the server admins and clans buy more servers that are smaller. Basically, 1 big server is cheaper than 2 smaller servers, and if they dont get filled up they lose money.

what I suggest is:

-18 players for OBJ
-24 players for BC & CTF,

in allot of games you can only play with 8 players online or maybe less, and it is still fun

i cant realise why the maximum numbers i suggested above could demage the fun, i dont think it will be more less fun, because each player can have the total experience with out having problems of too many player's blocking your way, and you can hide easily without getting spotted so quickly,

and dont tell me that hiding is camping, you know real life soldiers do hide too you know, and if you think thats not true than you must have watch RAMBO too many times.

i play tactical shooters to use tactics and strategy at a slow pace, to get some cover/hide with out having problems of getting killed so quickly,
tc:e sepose to be a tactical shooter not an arcade shooter,

and if you dont agree about being able to hide easily and having a slow pace gameplay than i advice you to play counterstrike or quake.

yeah...
you do realise that every server using the "official server config" is already bound by that? like exactly those player numbers...

jesus...

Ill tell you one thing, in reallife, the realy enemies will not let you take your time and do it slowly. Plus dont expect even numbers and fair matches, expect them to out number you, expect the unexpectable. Hiding isnt always the best strategy as this is not a spintercell game. In certain situations, and actually most situations, you have to act fast and strike quickly and accurately. TCE is suppose to be decisive and quick witted - high speed action within the boundaries of reality. Hiding is okay, but im telling you, its not as effctive as you may think it is, because if everyone is hiding there is no way of accomplishing anything.

Small sizes are okay, Im okay with 16 players per server - it worked with FEAR, it works with AA, but limiting it to 16 only wont change anything, server admins will add more slots, more and more. To them, the admins, this is about money, larger servers are cheaper in the long run than small servers, and it is thier own money they use for servers so it is actually up yto them how big the server will be -- a game's so-called maximum player count is just a guideline to provide optimum performance. As new games get more graphics intensive, player count has to go down otherwise you know what happens next, but it was and will never be a set limit, only a performance guideline, a tip, a recommendation.

In real life, SWAT teams, and other urban special forces don't sneak around the enemies. They surround the enemies, then rush. In real life you don't sneak around the shadows, climb walls and fall onto your enemies, or sneak up behind people and break their necks, which makes more noise than you would think. Special forces for military units don't sneak around behind the enemy either. They only sneak up to the general area and start the combat, none of that sneaking around shit is real. Life isn't a action novel, nor is it a video game. The real life shit isn't interesting enough to be a book or a video game, so they jazz it up.

The navy seals are still not as stealthy as advertised. Socom does a decent job on showing what their missions are like, but it is still far from it. The only sneaking done is to the place. Fire fights are to be expected on every mission. Seals don't snap necks, it makes a lot of noise, and so does slashing a throat. When you snap a neck people, by an almost instant reflex, make a aloud grunt like noise that can be herd from a distance. Slashing some ones throat is very noisy, the person starts to gurgle the blood from where the slash came from, and it's quite noisy. Seals, though sneaky and well trained, are not what like a movie action hero. Typically stealth only works when, A: the enemies are 100% unaware of your presents, B: You surround your enemy and slaughter them quickly, with guns at what TC:E would consider mid range. If the enemy is alert stealth is useless. And this is a video game, so expect enemies.

first of all, who the hell was mentioning neck snapping, troat cutting??? :?
i really dont get your point,

but anyways watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2gwxkxWKF0

i dont see any navy seals running in open erea's,
and they mostly operate in squads of 8 man or less,

when they operate in squads of 8 man or less than they have to be stealth.
