Post subject:  bots?wtf?

I was skimming through a few blog posts on tce.net, and look what I found!

Quote:
Finally, some comments on the bots. The current version has a very basic
bot support which is used as a development tool. The public release will
not officially support bots since they are not finished yet and it is
not even clear which state the will ever reach for multiplayer. The only
thing they are good for is to practise the game mechanics and have some
targets in BC mode.

so. does this mean that they will be included, but not supported, in .49 as basic "target practise" bots? or are they just not going to be in at all?

something like this would let me hone my tracking skills in BC, and release some steam "TAKE THAT MUTHERF****R!!"

[sarcasm]and, in the end, would there be a camping code?
"omfg! camper n00b!" "*series of beeps*" "wtf?"[/sarcasm]

No, to my knowledge they are there now to assist coroner with certain testing. We plan to have bots in the future (we want a single player mode!) but it won't be ready for .49. We are trying to package up what we have, fix the RC3 bugs and release "as is".

lol, i didnt you would find out. or anyone. Bots would be great for those having connection problems, they just have to be good enough for competition.

Yeah, as long as they aren't as awkward and predictable as those in Q3TC. You alway knew where they were going to be, and they could instantly headshot you with an AK and kill you without using the ironsight. They were both total idiots and perfect marksmen, which was insanely annoying.

Theres that new AI processor that has been announced. That could be a solution to most AI problems.

EVEN IF THE "BOTS" RAN BACK AND FORTH LIKE A DUCK SHOOT OR RANDOMLY ABOUT SPAMMING "MINE MINE MINE MINE", IT WOULDENT BE A TOTAL WASTE.

I dont think Cor will let the bots go anywhere as bad as that.

I should hope not! If they're more or less the same as those in Q3TC, I'll be fine.

I'm fine with run-around-targets...

better for sniper training.

Sniper training is different with bots because lag doesnt affect them. THe concept of shooting at online players with lag around is different from shooting at offline bots with or without lag. So sniper training isnt going to work that well.
