could be that alot of things needed to be done. We are suppose to be fixing the forums in preparation for 049. Basically remodelling it. Look at the current changes.

The news comments are getting hit by spam bots too hard. I don't know how to stop it at the moment - but am looking into an image code verification before posting, but I don't know if that's available with our news system.

About the forums - they will be made to be integrated into the website template. However, there will be an option to use this theme for the people who prefer it.

As for certain sections of the forums I suggest that the forum be divided for induvidual moderation for better enforcement. Plus, on certain popular sections which are morelikely to be hit by spambots need modetor verification for each post. As in once a post is submitted the moderator for the forum will be notified to either allow it or block it.

If that is too much then an image verification for account creation and login is more then sufficient. Plus, the new comment must also require a login in that cse. Most people who would want to comment must login.

Hmm... I would suggest maybe upgrading to an entirely new forum... One that is up to date... Then you wouldn't have to worry about spam bots as much because the forum would automatically recieve updates to prevent bots from spamming any part of the forum.

Just a suggestion... A good forum like that is never free and never cheap...

The forum is fine. There are some spam bots registering but very rarely they can post cuz you have to validate the account with your email address.

I'm going to add the verification so they can't even register.

I was talking about the news comments - which is seperate from the forums.

yes why not just use the forum accounts to be able to post something in the news comments,
so evrytime you wanna post something you have to log in,

ps. it would be sweet if the news comment allows coding, the same coding like the forum... like quotes dynamic links, colors ect. ect.

nvm the color preventing those bots is what is needed. plus the security of the forum database has to be improved further as the russian hackers seem to be getting around and targeting every webstie that looks like a military website or some site that promotes war and armed conflict.

what if someone uses coroner's name?

its possible cause you dont have to login.

Author:  Diane [ Fri Sep 08, 2006 6:05 pm ]
Post subject:

Chances are coroner would never reply to any news commenting - on here or elsewhere. So don't believe trollish posts.

Also, ip's and other info get logged when someone posts, so it's quite easy to restrict someone who abuses namefaking.

ip's can be changed easily,

oh this is what i wanted to ask you the last time i was chatting on my mobile phone... how come i cant login on this forum on my mobile phone?
