Look, the current player models aren't going to change anytime soon due to import and export issues. It's been discussed for literally YEARS. This engine really isn't meant to do what you want it to... I guarantee you would be lauding the player model quality 3 years ago, but since you have been exposed to the likes of Source, UT and FarCry you are basing everything in TCE against that. Whether subconsciously or not you need to step back and see the engine and it's limitations and not try to juxtapose other modern game features atop WET. I hear talk of physics and such...it's just not in the code and frankly it would render the game unplayable to many gamers if such bulky engine features were added.

You know, I grew up playing the likes of NES and Atari and still, to this day, will load up an old ROM of Legend of Zelda or Metroid and play for hours. I can still enjoy these games without all the fancy physics and HDR and ragdoll death sequences because I can put it in perspective. Take yourself back to the days when WET was the latest and greatest and judge mod progress against that.

Well said, man. I still play older games like Sonic the Hedgehog (on my old Genesis, not an emulator) not because they have the best graphics of all time..... but because of the awesome gameplay. Think about it... none of the 3D Sonic games have been able to top the gameplay of the original 16 bit masterpiece. Graphics are pretty, but the core gameplay is what matters. There are games with much better graphics than, say.... the original Unreal Tournament, but they STILL can't beat the gameplay. The guys at TT are doing all they can to push the WET engine to it's absolute limits.... and that's it.... there are LIMITS that they will reach that cannot be pushed any farther, and some that they can..... just be grateful for what your getting.

The thing is, someone should post up Carmack's words. He specifically said we cant make models too high poly or the engine wont accept them.

you have to read evrything, thats what you always need to do when your reading things in the forums, or just cant catch up with the topic, check the previous post's, somebody whas talking about that old 2d sonic games and stuff...
