it looks like the devs are only improving the wet-engine's visuals/graphics,

but what about the physics?

the wet-engine's physics needs tweaks/improvements and upgrade's too.

Hmm... very good idea Dragon. I guess we should just start from the very beginning of TC:E just to improve some physics that we can do nothing about.

The only way they could change the engine is by starting this whole goddamned project from square one meaning all the maps, all the weapons, and all the shit they've worked on for several years would be restarted and we would probably have to wait a couple of years just to see a Beta version come out again.

If these are your intentions, then I strongly suggest you stop posting and kill yourself because I'm not waiting another two years for some "physics" to be added to an engine.

Once the engine has been created and used, you cannot change it unless you want to start from the very beginning.

And I thought you said you wouldn't make a thread out of every haphazard irrelivant idea you thought up in your thick skulled head.

a couple of years is a bit exaggerated,

but thats never my intentions,

my intentions are:
i want evryone to have a climax when they get theyre hands on 0.49

i rather see people screaming: "HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!"

than just saying: "nice.."

you get my point?

to change physics, one must completely overhaul the engine. which, if I am not mistaken is against the EULA.
it states in at least 10 other games of mine (inclusing ET and my other Q3 games) that the engine is under license from id software, and is not to be modified and distributed without consent of id software. also, modding teh physics would require going to the bare bones and redoing everything. it would involve tens of thousands of lines of code, and frankly, would be a giant waste of time. and before you say "so-and-so has better physics" remember: this is a SPARE TIME MOD, hecne why a lot of bugs get through, and overhauling the physics in plain ET would require about, oh, a year?

yes some games have done it in months, but they have experienced game designers, who work 9-5, 5 days a week on it, and get paid to boot. they also have id on speed-dial.

bottom line is

physics modding=another two years to release date
also,
physics modding=illegal, unless permission is granted.

I'm sure that if they tried hard nough, after a few months of pestering, and a few days on hold, TT would maybe get consent to modify the engine, then guess what? they have to go talk to the devs of ET, who have ET:QW already on thier plate.

so, 1 year of nagging+2years of work+10000(or more) lies of code= everyone abandons mod. little stuff may be able to be done, but it's mostly animations and stuff that are just cosmetic.

I'll post an excerpt of the EULA later.

Umm... no, a couple years isn't exaggerated. They would have to start over and to get where they are now would take a couple of years.

If you don't recall hearing that they've been working on this mod until 2000 or 2001, forget which one.

So, unless you have the plans on waiting until 2010 for a mod, maybe even longer, I'd bag this idea.

And also, I don't get the second point you made... What does screaming "HOLY SHIT!!!" have to do with physics, other than V speed of sound ~331.4+0.6c m/s, seeing that there is sound involved.

Other than that, I really don't get your point.

anyways...

so what we have to wait a bit longer,
i dont understand you guys,

what do you rather have, a version thats released real fast, but it has no features and new stuff,

or would you rather wait a little longer, for a version with new features and more new stuff ect. ect.

well i rather choose the second one, its worth waiting,
in the end i know its gonna be juicy,

I'll stick with crappy VIDEO GAME physics for a VIDEO GAME and not wait another 10 years for a VIDEO GAME.

when it comes to TC:E, I'm not willing to stick around till 2010 for one release because three people want better physics.

BTW, today is ET install day, time to copy the EULA.

What makes you think they are listening to you?

The ideas and details you post here are trivial and pointless. At least take an English class and I'd probably be able to understand you half of the time. I know you're just learning English but I just learned English four years ago. :P

In other news...

The whole idea that you have Dragon about changing the WET engine to better suit your needs is actually very stupid. For it would mean the whole team would have to redo every goddamned detail this game has to offer which means I'd have to wait a couple of years for another Beta to be released...

There will be other mods Dragon, why don't you try and find those and *i-need-a-broader-vocab* those ones up the ass.

What the hell does runescape have to do with anything?

It has absolutely fantastic graphics considering that it just loads straight from the browser. And besides, de gusibus non est disuputandum, you know.

Dragon, what specific physics changes are you clamoring for? Ragdoll physics doesn't look like it will happen, so what do you want, exactly?

and the company that makes RS is hiring right now, so if I get my sh*t together and become a half-decent low polygon modeller, I'm bound to get the job
*goes to SAIT*

Ah, but that game isn't multiplayer and can't render a couple dozen players on the screen at once.

Anyways........

What specific physics changes do you want, other than ragdoll?

Don't fuel his intentions on getting another engine kozak...

Ah, what the hell, what do you want Dragon? Other than everything in the world which you can't have.

I dont think that would make the job easier for TT. An engine modification isnt easy, it will involve practically changing a large percent of the game itself.
