sinds theres no discussion topic about this,
i opened this thread about those topics, in general.

I wonder if its possible to see raindrops falling on your rifle/pistol/knife/nade
on a rainy map like hidout.

that would really increase TrueCombat's realism.

and i also wonder if its possible to create realistic looking water like this

Yeah, pretty realistic looking water there Dragon...

Then again, ultrarealism = ultralagism.

The texture they'd use for the water would have to be in constant animation and have the texture quality of a blue mirror and a little bit of transparency.

But, the raindrops on the weapon might not be that difficult, that is if they'd have to edit every weapon so you could see little droplets bounce off.

Also, it would be cool if you saw the characters as being wet out in the rain and see them as dry indoors.

For example:

You see in this pic Sam Fisher as being somewhat wet.

Now in this pic, Sam Fisher looks dry.

If you don't get what I mean, then I'll try and reword it. My English is off today. :P

I don't think realistic looking water is terribly important.

Drowning crashes TCE.

IMO all this is possible,

but its a hell lot of work, if TT has only 8 people working on this mod,
serieus, if 0.49 is finnished,
the first thing the devs need to do is, recruit more people,

they need:

-5 more animators
-5 more coders
-2 more mappers
-5 more programmers
-6 more modelers
-2 more P.R.'s, experienced P.R.'s,
(because P.R.'s can take care about sponsers, financial support's ect. ect.)

if the devs can manage to get a few more people, evrything will be way more easier,

and afcourse there are always people that wanna participate on this project voluntarily, but it takes patience to find them.

TC:E doesn't need financial support. it's gotten this good without it, and as far as I'm concerned if it means waiting a year per release, so be it.

if there could be more people, it would go faster, but I don't see it as a priority.

what does P.R. have to do with the release?

your concerned about the release, but you dont see TT having more people
as a priority,
(and you know having more people will make things go faster.)

you said it yourself:

no hard feelings, but you dont know what your saying.
if you dont understand something. than dont reply,

thanks.

I did not say that I WANT it faster. I just stated that if there were more people, it would go faster. frankly, I can live with it being slow. gives mappers time to improve.

No, the devs can't get a lot more people. That will lead to people wanting more money meaning there will need to be more funding.

I think what is out now is good enough. Not to break the ice but having a bigger team isn't going to make this the greatest goddamned video game on the internet. It will only lead to more problems, conflicts, and waiting periods for the awaiting gamers.

If you look at Sam Fisher again, I dont think anyone will get that wet. Its just a drizzle its immpossible to get wet when your wearing something like that. This is another big graphical only feature. I still prefer game sthat have goo gameplay and actually challenge me to try again a diferent way. I dont (thats DONT) care how much graphical effects are around as long as it plays great and alot of people prefer that over graphics and those people are what you would and should call the real fans of a game. Those who only look at the graphical quality of a game eventually get bored of the game since the only reason they bought it is because some dude who writes for a magazine said it looks amazing.

We have seen what rain does to the game it makes it laggy and slideshow like. If you add anymore detail to the rain then we will really have a slideshow.

These things you are suggesting arent immpossible but are impossible with the Quake 3 based engines, even the Doom3 engine and ofcourse impossible with TT's current budget aswell as everyone's system. Lucky for you if you had a 3GHz Dual core with SLI or Crossfire of the lastest model with 4Gb of RAM and a real liquid cooling system that can keep a keg of beer cool in the middle of a volcano. Unfortunatle none o us can afford that kind of system and that cooling system needed to keep this rig running isnt real.

Well, getting some "pocket-money" from the community is never a bad thing, I guess!

Donations work wonders.

When I get my paycheck at the end of the month, I'm going to put a small donation in for the team here.

That is, if they are taking them.

if you want the uniform of the soldiers to look wet, they have to hire someone that specialise himself in "skinning & textures" and he has to be a pro in editing things in photoshop.

if you check out one of those commercial games, and check out the credits,
you will see how many people worked on the project,

more than 100, sometimes more than 250 people,

and sometimes the game still have allot of bugs, even if so many people worked on the game,

imagine just 8 or 9 people working on this totally converted mod,
thats actually not a mod, but more like a hole complete game,
because ET and TrueCombat is totally different,

thats just Crazy,

no is not good enough, they really need more people,
more people, means more features can be added,
and it makes things way more easier,

Just let it be and it will eventually reach that kind of level. Pushing the devs isnt helping them its only making their works alot harder. The objective now for TT is to finish TCE where TCq3 left off and maybe Finally have a v1.00 release. These eyecandies arent a priority to them.

I would say they should get rid of the rain in all the maps until they can make a shader tosimulate rain but wont take away 2/3 or people's fps.
