Post subject:  Hey

Just found this game today, but I failed to download it twice in a row... always stopped at around 50 percent... now I'm trying to downlaod using Flash Get. (Hope it works  )

So far the game sounds pretty cool. And the graphics on the web site is very nice, very nice indeed.

Uh... Taking me 8 hours to download this game but I think it'll be worth it.

A couple of questions though:

1) Is there a single player mode?

2) Will the server be too laggy to a dial-up user like myself?

3) Howcome I never heard of this game before??!!

Yeah... I'm going to tell my friends to play too. See you online!

its not worthy to download TCE at this moment,
wait untill TCE version 0.49 is available,

the current TCE version sucks bad,
compared to the new TCE version that will be released in the future.

the pictures that you saw on this website,
are pictures from version 0.49

you might be disappointed if you installed it, and played it.

Actually, the pictures on the website (minus the spec ops player models) are from the current version (ie maps, weapons etc).

Pictures in the gallery are stuff the team is currently working on.

About dialup, I am a dialup user too but with sucky phone lines only connect at 26.4kbps and I can't play it online. However, I assume anyone who gets 40 kbps or more can play no problem.

You can't play single player at the moment since there are so bots, but you can play in a LAN.

@Dragon: Yes, TCE is a beta that is progressing to become a better game - but 48 is still a decent version. I shouldn't/wouldn't discourage new players from trying it. We are a community driven mod, so it really doesn't make sense to turn potential new community members away.

Thanks.

got you there huh Dragon... this version is fine if your only looking for a simple shooter with ironsights.

hmmm. the dialup thing is a problem.., try not to use p2p software as I have experienced that they actually slow down internet connection.

The reason you havent heard of TCE before is probably because it hasnt had any updates in recent times. Hopefully soon enough there will be a BIG public anouncement.

Umm...

Okay, the download is completed, but I can't get it to run. When I click on the icon (tcetest), a message pops up:
Quote:
The item 'ET.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

What does that mean? And how can I fix it? I spend 8 hours downloading this!!

Don't tell me I downloaded the wrong thing!

This game is a mod of another game, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It won't work without it.

Have you downloaded Enemy Territory? It's free as well.

Hmm, judging by the number of similar problems occuring, we should have a more reorganized and easy to understand step by step instructions of installing this mod put right infront of the user before they download it. or we could use some generic prewritten guide just need to be copied and pasted from notepad or something. maybe Ill write something up, upload it, and link it to posts about this topic. any suggestions?

hah!! i told you guys that allot of new commers that wanna play TCE,
always makes the mistake to install TCE first with out having ET installed first on they're computer.

and yes I have an idea for this issue,
people should only download the TCE file,
when people downlaoded TCE on they're computer, they will see the TCE logo on they're desktop right?
now when they select and dubble click on it,
A small pop up window will appear on they're screen.
on that pop window you can see this message:
-------------------------------------------------------

YOU MUST INSTALL ENEMY TERRITORY FIRST.

do you wish to install enemy territory first?
( YESS ) ( NO )

-------------------------------------------------------

when they chooses NO, the pop up window will close,
when they chooses YESS, the "enemy territory's" webpage will open on they're desktop, and automaticly downloads the enemy-territory file from
the enemy's territory's webpage.

this is not illegal! it only redirect people to the enemy territory's webpage.

but Team Terminator have to hire an excellent programmer though.

we cant bundle TCE with the release of ET. but we can put a splash screen that can link the user to getting ET before TCE installation begins. a popup is kinda alarming, you have to bring it to them slowly. Another thing is, some people get turned off if they have to download something again, remember not all of us have 3mbps or higher internet connection.
