1. Texture Tone Mapping

In our endless quest to push the graphical limits of the WET engine, Coroner and company have implemented a new technique to TCE's maps called Texture Tone Mapping. Basically what this means is that lighting is applied to compliment the tones of the textures in maps. This is done to correct the values of the darkest and brightest colors in a texture to give it an almost photo-realistic look.

Below are some screens of the revamped Railhouse (edited by Bruce45 - more shots can be found on the gallery). We hope to replicate all current/future maps to reflect this realistic standard.

so are we able to shoot at lamps, to make the erea darker?

this type of feature is in SOCOM navy seal.
if this feature would be implented in TCE,
it would give TCE A boost on the "gameplay/realism"

?? I dont think its reasonable. although it should be possible, but in real life, people dont hinder themselves. Shooting out the lights will maek it harder for the enemy, it will also make it harder for you. The use of nightvision is tactical for scenarios that are already dark. Besides, real SpecOps teams are trained to fight in any situation possible.

Shooting out lights- the ET engine doesn't really do dynamic lighting, so we will probably never see such a thing.

Night vision is possible but impractical. The ET engine doesn't do really dark areas well, and it would be very easy to cheat and simply crank up your gamma and skip using NV altogether.

You might want to do a search for it on the main forums. There was extensive discussion of it there.

About the dynamic lights.. America's Army uses that extensively on its maps, yet you cant shoot out lights. S I dont think DL has anything to do with it. Maybe we could make maps where light sources are destroyable, and when they are destroyed, the light goes out.

Shooting out lights would be useful, but they'd have to add nightvision to the whole spectrum then... And from some of the games I've seen, that can be a bitch at times...

Though, I thought of something this game could use.

If you stay motionless in one spot, e.g, if you're sniping, the ambient brightness could slowly increase making some objects more noticable... I know this was applied to the Splinter Cell series, just to indicate that my idea 'isn't' original. ;)

i personally would never understand,
if the devs didnt add nightvision in the game, if its possible why not?

and it would be A shame if they dont make us able to shoot lamps,
LordOfKaos told me that its not possible because the "WET engine"
doesnt support dynamic lights,

but why do you need dynamic lights?
when shooting lamps is basicly the same thing like shooting at windows,
you shoot 1bullet at A lamp, and the light should automaticly turn off,

or.. I might be wrong about this.

that is the thing, but lighting effect that isnt dynamic means that its like plain mapping. its like a fixed invisible light source that is just like paint on a wall.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh now I get it...

does the devs needs to use another game angine
that has dynamic lighting to make us able to shoot lamps?

or is it possible to still use the current game engine,
and add some kind of source code in the "WET engine"
to make it possible to shoot lamps?

Which = no shooting out lights... I've waited long enough, if they dare venture back to the first square then I'm just giving up on the series.

same here. im going to go fulltime on waiting on Price of Peace instead if they do that. PoP is a WWII realism mod for ET for those who havent heard. Currently its still alpha testing, but were expecting the first beta in a few weeks.
