Yes, but it's not as important. If you say 5.56 NATO, everybody (hopefully) knows you mean 5.56x45.

The AK doesn't fire 7.62 NATO, which is 7.62x51. It actually fires 7.62x39.

No. There is no 45mm NATO.

There is .45 ACP, which is a pistol cartridge, and 40mm grenades, but no 45mm NATO.

If I"m not mistaken, that's because in '47 when it was made, the creator (I can pronounce his name, but not spell it)IMO was inspired by the STG44, which used a 7.62 mauser round, I think he followed suit using said ammunition, correct me if I"m wrong, but that's what I heard

hmm... I wonder if the ammo difference actually has any strategic advantages and disadvantags modelled into the game. Technically just the different guns should have thier own advantages, but i suppose ammoshould also play a part in how effective the gun is. Im not sure if thats modelled into the game, all I know is it only take 2 in the torso to kill someone.

7.62 Mauser is a pistol cartridge.

The STG.44 fired the 7.92x33 cartridge. And, yes, the Russians were inspired by both of them.

XenoKiller, there is a world of difference between 7,62x39 and 7.62 NATO.

Yeah, your standard 7.62 NATO round is hellath more powerful then the pussy 5.56 NATO round.

The Tango's have a higher advantage with the AK-47 when it comes to damage, but a bit less of advantage with accuracy.

Also, weapons have their advantages.

E.G.
The M4 Carbine has an advantage over the AK because its fast shooting and very accurate while the AK puts higher damage on the target.

The Mac 10 has an advantage because it uses the .45cal round and shoots really *i-need-a-broader-vocab* fast, while the H&K MP5 10mm does a bit less damage than the .45cal round but is more accurate and more proserving with ammo.

Size also indirectly indicates powder capacity.

7.62 NATO has a bit more than twice the effective range of 7.62x39. It has a muzzle velocity of 860 m/s as compared to 710 m/s.

Magazines are typically limited to 20 rounds, although 30 round magazines are availible but uncommon.

The PSG-1 is supposed to be in 7.62 NATO.

7.62 NATO should be uncontrollable in full auto after two or three rounds. Magazines should be 20 rounds. Damage should be significantly more. Weapons that fire it should be significantly heavier, leading to slower player speeds.

So yes.

Are these implemented in the game? I never really noticed these much since I normally would put my gun in semiauto for longrange shots. And if ever its in full auto, i fire in small bursts of 2 or less shots.

The only weapon in 7.62 NATO is the PSG-1.
