I'd like there to be no fighting over which s better. I'm just curious in which one the majority of the people prefer and why. Not because console a is better than console b or c. Instead, just list what you like about your preferred console, if you like that is.

Feel free to not participate. But if you don't, you'll hurt my feelings.

I choose the Wii, for bringing innovation to the generation.

I"m split between the Wii and the DS. I want to vote wii for funness and innovation, but the DS has some innovative-ness to it, but in the end, I pick DS for portability, and the possibility that we might see things like OoT and majoras mask for it.

the 360 is fun, my friend has one, but I classify it as a boosted xbox with a few new little things.I'd still play it if I got it free or for really cheap.

same with the PS3 as the 360. upgraded PS2 with some new little things.

and I"m driven to the DS as a handheld because it uses carts. disks=loading. loading=bad. it was the main reason that nintendo kept carts till the n64. (that and the failure of the SNES-CD, and limited capabilites of CDS when they were developing)

plus, it's got picture chat. you , too can send poorly drawn phallic symbols to friends and strangers alike!

I enjoyed my atari 2600 and NES. I always played PC games tho... then I bought an XBOX (before 360 came out) and I feel I got burned, please recommend some quality games :( The games are horrible! If I don't sell it I'll try to softmod it to run Linux.

I'm surprised that no one picked ps3.

Its no surprise after all those screwups and to think that Sony now has a third version of PS3 - forgot where I read this but this one is suppose to have fixed other issues.

Anyway - a lot of people, even proffessionals like John Carmack do not like the idea of the cell processor - also forgot where I read this.

I have no clue. From what I know, he's not banned (if he's reading this, I'm going to pound it in that he's pushing it to the limit, and his safety is not guaranteed.)

my friend has an xbox. halo's pretty fun. it worked perfectly for him because he just so happened to need another DVD drive. (He had a portable one before.)

if this thread was made back in, say, October, I'd be all for the 360. and I'm still considering it when I upgrade to vista. but the big decider will be if GoW will be for vista. Rumors say it might, Microsoft hasn't said much, and I'm sure it would be a nice selling point. it'd be awesome with the upcoming vista+xbox live hookup.

If I had wads of cash to blow, I'd get a PS3, but IMO, that extra $200 can go to games, or even a nice RAM upgrade.

The Wii looks awesome, and I'd look into it, even if just for the virtual console and being able to flail my arms wildly and actually achieve something.

for handhelds, a PSP isn't on m y list, as I've heard some bad things about the games for it (mostly that they're like playstation ones only with dumber controls and a smaller screen). a GBA is now out of the question, because the DS does all GBA games, and if I want a gameboy I'd probably just go buy one off my friend. a DS would be nice, even if only for NSMB. heck, that's all I used to play on the SNES. plus it's GBA compatibility is nice. I could play TLoZ:aLttP the way it's supposed to, and without cheats (read: I could remain stuck at the desert palace)

I like the wii because I no longer look like an idiot when I tilt the controller when I need to turn or what not. Its innovativeness is a big bonus too.

Ps3 comes in second, but IMO, it will not be worth it until price drops hit it. Personally I don't like many console games, or at lest the newer ones. Classics like FF7, Sonic, Ridge racer, Resident Evil... the list goes on and on, were good. I don't care much about graphics any more. After Half Life 2 came out, I though graphics got as good as they needed to be. Some better shadows would be nice though. So the Xbox 360 and Ps3 are basically the same to me; however, like I mentioned a few times here, Xbox games tend to hit the PC as well. Thats the only reason PS3 comes second. (And Ps3 looks sexier.)

Well, when it comes to console games, graphics are everything - the game's graphics are a console games primary selling factor without it noone would buy the game - older games are an exception because during those days those were the top notch graphics.

If you have not noticed many console games have the exact same gameplay as sequels, prequels and what not. Every year, the next sequel is just a major graphical update and some additional maps and stuff.

It is different for PC - since not all PCs are the same, PC games cannot depend on graphics as a selling point because not everyone will be able to appreciate that fully - and so PC games actually focus more on better multiplayer and overall gameplay instead.

PS3 looks sexy? But you can customize your PC chassis to look like anything - and you can plug in the 360 - and even play PC versus 360 on any game available for both.

once the PS3 gets a price hit and passes a few months without any major bugs, I'll look into one.

but I agree that console games do get repetitive. without mods I'd probably have second thoughts about half-life 2. and I also like not having to spend another $500 on an upgrade that you need or you will never play another new game again.

The thing is, it isnt realy justifiable to be spending so much money jusr for games - primary reason why I like PCs is because I can use them for many other things besides games, music, and movies. Until a console can do my homework, make my matte paintings, 3d renderings, programming, word processing, etc. I wont really consider one unless for some miraculous reason I find a wad of $100 bills under a park bench in a paper bag.

yeah, that's another reason I"m a PC guy. but some consoles are nice because they're old and have some nice games (I'm going to try to get a used SNES and Super MArio World, should come under $100 if I play my cards right, or just steal them off my cousin)
