Your basic noob here. I am not a gamer, and mostly what I have done is some older adventrue games and fps. I thought I'd give this online gamming a try.

Once I am all set up and ready to run how do I go about starting to play. I've logged on to a couple servers and just end up being a spectator, even when I host a game I am still just a spectator and I don't play.

How do I get started?

Thanks for the help.

You have to open up the "limbo menue" by pressing "L" (default). You then can choose a team, a class and a weapon/gear-setup. After that you're ready to go :)

Oh, damn. You're still here.

Can we stay on topic? If you have an idea that differs substantially from the one being discussed, just start a new thread. Please.

Now, back on topic.

To select a different weapon, just click and hold the weapon name on screen, and release on the weapon you want. You can't select greyed out weapons because you don't have enough "AA," which is TCE's sorry version of XP.

It has something to do with kill ratios and completing the objective. It's confusing, frustrating, everyone hates it, and it should be overhauled substantially in the next version, if we ever see it.

I was talking to Drago. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Yes, we should welcome new players.

yes we should welcome new players. normally I always welcome anyone newer than me, (member number 148 and up). if I missed someone, by bad. This is a great game, its worth your time and effort. What goes on in this forums is purely for the sake of discussion, if there is anything negative, its not really about the game itself.

Hello, and welcome.

I'm going to be direct so we can start you off while your fresh...

Rule 1:
Don't Spawnkill!!!!!iiiiii1111

A lot of people will like you and respect you more if you don't. Spawnkilling is anything where you hug the enemies spawning area either that being up close and personal with an automatic, or from a distance with a sniper.

Rule 2:
Don't bitch and whine:

A lot of people will like you and respect you, I'm sounding repetative, if you don't. I tend to whine, it's habitual somewhat, and I usually get bitched at by some of the better players and all of the n00b's with skill and not $|<!11z... So, I'm sort of a rulebreaker so don't follow me on this one.

Rule 3:
Respect for others .

Have respect for the enemy and your team mates. Don't piss off your own team mates by throwing a flash bang at them so they'll shoot you. You do that you will be considered as a n00b and people will never like, ever, ever, EVER, REVE (ever backwards.). I think I've made my point.

Rule 4:
Don't be a n00b.

Well... if you skipped the other rules read back and if you follow them you won't be called a n00b unless you are called a n00b by a n00bs, n00b, n00b... If that makes sense. ;)

So... for a NOOB, the best thing to do is to drop in a server and get your butt kicked a few times till you figure out how to move. shoot and communicate?

TIA

Unless you are naturaly gifted in FPS games, yes that is the way to go - learn from your opponents styles of play - usualy they use the same thing again and again making ti easy to think of ways to decisively flank them.

Ironsights are your friends! Right click (or press B) for friendly ironsights!

Crouching is your friend! Press C to crouch (You can set it to toggle crouch or hold crouch in the options menu- by default it is hold) Which makes you a smaller target, and makes your gun recoil slightly less!

Leaning is your friend! Press and hold either Q or E to lean! If you want to shoot while leaning make sure you have your friendly ironsights up! Or you will be hit by not-so-friendly bullets!

Pressing v45 when you accidentally shoot or grenade a teammate might just save you getting kicked from a server- though try to not make a habit of killing your teammates, or you will find you have no friends!

DO NOT RELOAD UNLESS YOU HAVE LESS THAN HALF A CLIP OR YOU ARE SIMPLY WASTING BULLETS. Yes, even in long firefights, you will always have a chance to duck away, reload and pop out again while the guy either trys storming you or ducks to reload himself. Also, you do NOT hold onto ANY used clips, you drop them/they dissappear, and you cannot load a half empty clip.

SPRINTING IS YOUR FRIEND, though use wisely, its best to only use in emergencies- like running away from not-so-friendly grenades! Or you might find you can't run away and get blown to little human chunks!

GRENADES ARE DEADLY. To both YOU, YOUR TEAM, and THE ENEMY. Use with extreme caution, and use sparingly. You never know when you might desperately need that last smoke grenade to escape that sniper, or perhaps that last frag grenade to take out the bomb planter and his escorts if they seem to be watching him plant, rather than defending (yes, this is commonly witnessed)

WHEN ONE OF YOUR TEAMMATES ARE PLANTING/DIFFUSING THE BOMB, FOR CHRISTS SAKE DONT STARE AND WATCH. FIND SOMEWHERE TO DEFEND AND WATCH FOR WOULD BE ASSAILANTS.

Follow these basic guidelines and you should have a fun game!

Happy fragging!

God I need more sugar.

HEADPHONES ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND

I will get on average about 60% of my objective kills due to simply hearing where the enemy is, and then predicting their movement with my shot. So many players do not tap into this huge advantage that is gleaned from a half decent pair of headphones.

Oh and, the most important thing is to keep alive. If you arrive at a firefight with 2 enemies pinning you down from dominant positions, just don't bother. In .49 there are a lot more routes that you can take.

Stay quiet, lean lean lean, know the weapon sounds so you can recognise who is where, and then use your knowledge of the enemies' position to rush the crap out of them.

:D

oh and always aim for the head
