Tested it on a 5 years old laptop. Works at a stable 50FPS, HDR, Bloom, dynamic shadowing and parallax mapping off, normal mapping on. Everything else maxed out. Dropped to ~25FPS when I turned parallax mapping and dynamic shadows on.

The textures are improved (WET) but you can't really see the normal/parallax mapping effects because lightmaps are used on the default maps. The light from the flamethrower displays them nicely, along with the dynamic shadows casted by the map geometry.
The maps would be gorgeous if some dynamic lighting was added, in the sky shader atleast.

The only engine bug I encountered is with the decal system. Basically, wall marks don't show up how they should. It is on the team's to-do list.

I also tested TCE, everything works fine and some stuttering from railhouse and snow is gone. I forgot how good snow looked, a pro map, haven't seen it in a while.

I'm quite impressed with the engine.

Xreal is a HIGHLY modded Id Tech 3 engine. It is absolutely free, and I think even has the proper stuff to make the game Stand alone without needing TCE for example (if TCE was ported to ETXreal in this case). Xreal has many things found in newer games - dynamic shadows, bloom, parallax mapping, (?)bump mapping and normal mapping (?). Xreal also has much less framerate issues instead of like vanilla Id Tech 3. You can learn more about it one it's ModDB page: http://www.moddb.com/mods/etxreal

Paralax is used for bumping bigger areas (lets say, brick wall)

Normal/bump/offset are all same thing (or atleast i heard so)

(just sayan because of your "?")

And wasnt the original reason to NOT use ET-Xreal that it might never be stable enough/it takes too long to develope proper, stable build ?

Hah, I know what they do, I just put the (?) because I was not 100% sure Xreal supports it :D. (which is rather stupid of me, because Paralax is a relatively new thing, but bump mapping has been first seen in 1999).

Dude, ET-xreal is on Moddb and have had paralax mapping pictures ages ago :P
Check em out.

Also, i could have sworn (?) i saw somewhere they said ET-xreal might support newer OpenGL versions 3.2 and over in the future which woulld mean that engine is capable of tessalation

Maybe some day.

Nah, i just checked tess requires atleast 4.x

And it seems you have commented in one of the paralax mapping pictures at moddb.

Ah, you a bit misunderstood me here, thewonderboy, the (?) is related only to "bump and normal mapping" line of text.

Only reason for coroner to read this would be if he wants to pass on the development of tce to another developer. He's already made a decision on COD4 so changing his mind now will only screw stuff up. Dont tempt him. Let him finish what he started on COD4. As I recall he said a playable version by xmas. 1 month from now. So SHHH.

+1. I absolutely don't understand what exactly is Dragonathan trying to do.

the problem with COD4 to that its a waste to buy that game, i dont think there are people still playing it because its kinda old, if TC will use COD4's game engine than i would waste my money in buying COD4 just to play TC, if i have to buy TC as stand alone than i would buy it, why? i dont like the COD series, i dont want that game on my shelf, i do like the TC series, its a great game,
